Hilton HHonors - Status change

i'm a lowly silver with hilton. i called them to see if i could get the fast pass to gold and they said yes. Just spend 4 nights in the next 60 days you will get gold for 2012. Well i just spent two at the Waldorf NYC. I'm going to HK in 3 weeks and staying at the conrad for 5 nights. After leaving HK i go to shanghai and i'm staying at the waldorf on the Bund. so basically my question is will my status change immediately upon checking out of the conrad or will it take a few days to update like the website. problem is i'm checking out HK and checking in Shanghai the same day and i dont think i'll be able to enjoy the gold benefits in shanghai.

Your status will change to gold the very second that the 4th night posts if that was your offer. Are you sure its not 4 stays? It is usually stays.

Double check your info. I think you may have gotten it wrong. As HHonors Outsider stated, the offer is almost always 4 STAYS, not nights. Nights is usually 9-10 nights for the fast track.
A stay is defined as consecutive nights at a hotel. So even if you check out and back into the same hotel every night for 5 nights, you still only have one stay.


You status changes a few days after the last qualifying stay posts.

i will have a colleague traveling with me. I've booked our hotels under my name and with my credit card. If when we check in i leave everything under my name and CC's for both rooms with that count as two "stays" per hotel for me?

No, that will be one stay and if you want to get credit for both rooms, if they are both in your name under your HHonors number, get both rooms put onto the same folio at check-in and make sure they are still on one folio at check-out, and then be prepared to call/email/file a missing stay request afterwards because often the points don't post properly.

imho, your best bet to get to gold more quickly is to do a little hotel hopping to get your four stays checking in and out of hotels with one night stays at each.

No, you will get points for both rooms but only stay credit for 1.

What you could do with your 5 night stay is stay there on nights 1 - 3 and 5 so you end up with 3 stays. For nights 2 and 4 you could stay at a near by hhonors brand and you will end up with 5 stays. If you want to stay at same hotel for the 5 nights put nights 2 and 4 in your friends name and you will not receive credit for nights 2 and 4 and will have to check in all 5 days but you stay at the same hotel.

If I am a Platinum member with Hyatt will HHonors match me to their gold? That seems like a quick and easy way as well if they'll status match.

Easy way: find the cheapest HHonors property near home. Book three one-night stays in the next three weeks. Go over in the evening to check in, and in the morning to check out. You should be able to do this for $150-200. You will be Gold before starting your trip to Asia. The free breakfast in HKG is worth that much.

Gemac's plan is a much better than the one I suggested so I insist the OP does it and lets us know when he has completed the stays.

that's the ticket. i've actually got a hampton inn 50 yrds from my office. @89 per night i could check in when i leave work and check out when i come into work the next day. this is definitely the best idea. I've got three stays left to hit, so that would be b/t 275-300 to hit gold. you guys think that's worth it?

so get this...i just called to see how many stays away i was from getting gold(i think 2) since they offered me the 4 in 60days. He said that was a GE promotion that someone made in error on my account and since i didnt work for GE that wouldnt help me. So i asked what he could do for me and he said he would just upgrade me to gold today for nothing. checked my acct online and boom i am now gold. leaving for HKG conrad on monday and waldorf in shanghai after that.
