Germany - Meet Up Location at Berlin Tegel
Hey FlyerTalk!
I will be travelling to Berlin Tegel Airport in August and will be meeting a friend(not from Berlin) at the airport. My flight will land around 8:30 AM, his lands at 7 AM. What would be a good location to meet up?
What is the easiest way to contact each other in the case of an emergency(missed or cancelled flight, etc.)? We both have cell phones from USA/Canada, so I expect roaming to be rather expensive.
Thank you

You could meet at the old wagon in front of the terminal building (from the main entrance, walk in the direction of the rental car center. It is right behind the bus stops). You can get a nice "Currywurst" there.

I think you're talking about the Ess-Bahn. The only problem waiting for someone there is that seems to be choice for smokers to light-up. The airport has gotten too crowded in the main entry area, that it's not easy to find someone there. However, there is a back area behind the wall that has the arrivals and departures board mounted on it. It's where the police office and tax refund office are located. There are seats to sit down on in that area, which might be helpful.

Just send an SMS. Will cost a few cents more than when home, but one or two shouldn't break the bank.

They just have to make sure that their cell phones will work there.
Thanks for the help everyone.
I checked into my cell phone carrier's options, and I will be able to use my phone abroad.
For a meet up location, I was thinking of something that is easy to find. I'm not too sure about the layout of the airport, but I have seen some complaints of the Starbuck's being difficult to find. I found a list of restaurants and shops in Tegel here: http://www.berlin-airport.de/EN/ReisendeUndBesucher/AmFlughafen/RestaurantsShops/TXL.html
I haven't seen a map of Tegel showing the location of anything aside from terminals, so I don't know where any of the landmarks are. If anyone has any suggestions on an easy to find (from arrivals) location in Tegel, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks everyone

It would help if you told us the airlines you both are flying in on. Tegel is not your normal layout of an airport. If the second person is arriving in Termal A (main terminal), you can actually meet him just outside the gate area. The other two terminals you have to wait in a general area after the pax have come through the baggage claim area.
