JA610A, a 763 serving as NH956 (PEK-NRT) operated by Air Japan sustained what appeared to be fuselage warping damage on landing at NRT today. While there were no sustained winds pilots had been complaining of unpredictable turbulence and wind gusts due to the typhoon that had recently passed.

jrmyl, as an Air Japan pilot can you share any light on what happened?

WOW that's way more severe than I imagined. Does it look like the fuselage was overstressed? Hopefully jrmyl wasn't the pilot on that flight :p

What if it is 787? 787 is not using metal fuselage. Will it break into 2 pieces?

I know it is 763. I just ask a question what if it was an 787? Can 787 non-metal fuselage handle thing like this? Or it would break into 2 pieces?

Not as bad as the DHL landing a couple of years back. NRT has a deserved rep for bad wind shear.
