Ryanair & easyJet are point to point airlines. They do not interline even if you are "connecting" (sic) to another flight by them.
Given that Ryanair have a HARD cut-off for check-in of 40 minutes before scheduled departure time you must be checked in by 15:35 - not a second later - or you don't fly.
There's also a good chance that you have to go to Ryanair's desk to get your boarding card validated before you can check-in depending on your nationality as Ryanair require that for non-EEA passports.
So you have an hour for landing, getting to the "gate", going through immigration, collecting luggage, changing terminal, going through any hoops Ryanair wants you to jump through before check-in plus an allowance for Things Going Wrong. Do you feel lucky?
Oh - Ryanair's hand luggage allowance is lower than easyJet's so you might want to check that out also

There's absolutely no point stressing about it until you are actually there and have landed at LGW. Personally I find easyJet to be fairly punctual (they seem to build some padding into the timetable) and quite efficient about baggage claim. So, there's no point stressing.
However, try to sit near the front and sprint for passport control - that's probably the biggest factor that you can affect. After that it's in the lap of the Gods, but I should imagine that most days you would make it.

You can also checkin for Ryanair online, and save a bit of time. You will have to drop off your hold luggage of course...
Good luck.
It seems like a reasonable transfer to me, but then, I'm not going to be doing it on the day;)

If the flight is on time, and you make an effort to hurry, there is a good chance that you'll make the connection. But it doesn't leave much time for error (delayed flight, queues at immigration, waiting at the baggage carousel, getting lost...)
I guess you have already booked these tickets, so it's not a case of 'should I try it' but 'what can I do to maximise my chances' and 'what should I do if it goes wrong'.
Aboslutely print your Ryanair boarding pass and sit near the front of the easyJet plane (with your hand-luggage above you, not three rows behind). Walk quickly through the airport to immigration to beat the sues - even if you do end up waiting a while for bags. Hurry to the South terminal and Ryanair bag-drop.
It would be worth looking at a backup plan now, rather than when you've just missed your flight. You will almost certainly need a new ticket (if Ryanair offer to change your ticket for a fee, look online at what it would cost to buy a new one). A knowledge of the schedules of other airlines from other London airports would be useful, as would a fully-charged cellphone and a laptop with wifi. Hopefully you won't need any of this, but ten minutes' research now may prove invaluable in the future.

Don't want to worry the OP unnecessarily... but aren't you guys possibly being a bit too optimistic?
Official Minimum Connecting Time between North and South Terminals is 75 minutes.
As I understand it MCT assumes an airside transit (and no checked baggage).
The OP's connection is 100 minutes.
Is that extra 25 minutes really enough to get through Immigration, collect baggage and drop it off again?
My recommendation to the OP would be have a Plan B ready... maybe even book an alternative flight if they're cheap enough (as they won't be cheap on the day...)

Standard airport connection times are shown at the top. Exceptions to the standard times for specific carriers, terminals, or flights are shown below. In this example, an international to international connection to FR involving a transfer from LGW North to South specifies a 2.00 MCT.

MCT = Minimum Connecting Time
2.00 means two hours.
You're 20 minutes short of that.
It's not impossible that you could make it, but I would say your chances are less than 50:50.
If you book an alternative flight now you will, hopefully, get it for a reasonable price.
If you book an alternative flight on the day (having missed your connection) it will almost definitely cost you a lot more because all the cheap seats will have gone.

You will need almost everything to go right for you to make that connection, including short queue at immigration, your bag being first out, the inter-terminal train being there and ready to leave when you get to it, and short queues at south terminal security.

It will definitely cost you a lot more, because that is what Ryanair do. Once it is the day of travel then the previous cost of seats becomes irrelevant.
They used to have a 'rescue fee', that if you checked in a little late (up to 1 or 2 hours), you could pay the fee and they would put you on the next available flight.
That seems to have quietly disappeared within the last year or two, it was probably too customer-friendly for them.

That's Easyjet - They still have it (http://www.easyjet.com/en/book/regulations.html#a9)

Ryanair also had the same thing at one point.
They may still have it, but it had reached £100 by 2009 - and I can't find much evidence of it since then.
(But even £100 will be less than a same-day Ryanair ticket)

It died a quiet death in 2009 as far as I know.
Aer Lingus still maintains a similar fee, called a missed check-in charge, which Mrs. stifle had cause to use coming back from her hen weekend :)

My dear Friends.
First of all, I want to thank you all for your help.... here is how it went down:
We landed at Gatwick Airport (North Terminal) at 14:35. This means that the easyjet flight was on time.
We had already booked speedy boarding on easyjet, so we where the first one out of the airplane. But the lines at passport control were too long.
But by 15:00 we were through passport control.
The luggage hadn't arrived on the belt yet, so we made a decision. I went straight out the airport and into south terminal, and my friend stayed at the north terminal to collect the luggage. We had only booked one piece of luggage.
We thought it's better that one of us makes the flight, and we buy only one extra ticket in worst case. and split the cost 50/50.
So I went to south terminal through security and all. And I knew I had made it.
At 15:24 my friend called my and said he was on the shuttle heading to south terminal. I told him that he could make it and told him to go to counter section D at south terminal. As He arrived the Ryanair lady was about to leave the check-in desk. and he shouted "my darling wait for me" :p and she waited and he checked in. Later on I told him to hurry up through security at south terminal. And told him which gate the flight was on, so he didnt loose time watching the tv-screens. Our good luck that the ques at gate were long :) and my friend made it aswell.
So guys, WE MADE IT. it is possible to make a connected flight from North to South terminal and collect luggage aswell, in only 1,5 hours. But everything has to be on time. The luggage wasnt coming on belt, it was a bit delayed. And we had long ques at the passport control at north terminal.
Remember we had booked speedy boarding and rushed thourgh the airport. In my opinion one should have 2 hours between connected flights, if one has to collect luggage and switch terminals.
If you dont have luggage, and only handbags...then the connected flight and swithcing terminal can be done in 1,5 hours...
We had some good luck though :) collected luggage + switched terminal + checked inn luggage.... all that within 1,5 hours of connection time.
Please allow yourself 2 hours between flights if you have luggage.
Thanks for help again guys.
PS: I had lovely holidays in Agadir :D :D

Now that is bordering on a miracle. A Ryanair agent that waited for a delayed passenger? That's just unheard of! (I've heard of Ryanair splitting up families because there was only time to check in half of them before the cut-off point)
Glad you made it - well done! But I bet it's not an experience you'll want to repeat in a hurry...
