Hyatt Gold Passport - Any love for Diamonds on resort fees?

I'm staying at the Hyatt in Newport, RI next month. They charge a $35 resort fee... any chance I could get that reduced/waived?

Experiences at this hotel would be helpful but any examples of getting a break on the resort fee, at any Hyatt, would be good to know too.

Thanks!

i just booked 2 nights at the regency in monteray and was told that the resort fee is waived, but i'm not entirely sure if it's because i paid with points or because i'm diamond.

I have been at this property a few times. On a FFN previously I had it waived once, another time not. More recently in the off season I had it waived also

Hyatt T&Cs call for no resort fees on award bookings.

Recent reports on the resort fees for Diamonds (on revenue stays) appear to be that they are reduced by $5 due to the overlap in benefits.

Better than nothing I guess!

my experience with HR Waikiki in April (where resort fees are $18 per night) was they waived 50% if you request it -- my understanding is that it's at the property's discretion, doesn't hurt to ask -- the worst thing they can say is no :)

This hotel's resort fee is $35!! For, and I quote:

"high speed wireless Internet access in guest room, overnight self parking, Hyatt shuttle van transportation to/from downtown Newport, All-electric Hyatt water shuttle to/from downtown Newport, 2 free bottled waters per guest room per night, 24 hour access to Fitness Center, Unlimited local phone calls and on property resort activities."

That's not a particularly impressive list. Downtown Newport is easily within walking distance; plenty of hotels give you a bottle of water for free, I get free Internet as a Diamond anyway, and... paying to use the gym? Come now.

I believe it's actual policy to waive the resort fee at HR Palm Springs
