Hilton HHonors - Award reservation--hotel won't be open?

I have an award reservation for a new Doubletree in July, but I just noticed that they've moved the opening to mid-August. The hotel hasn't contacted us. Obviously, I'll have to call them, but what usually happens in a case like this?

Call and ask, usually they are open for a couple of weeks or more before the "official" opening. If that's the case, I would try to find out what "open" means, as they may still be working on the place and you may not want to be part of that (like opening your door to a hallway of wet carpet cement)
