Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - Hotel + Air: two concurrent rooms?

I looked through the previous posts, but I don't think I found anything that addresses my question.
I am planning a trip with friends, hopping around Thailand, and I really don't think we will be staying a week in one spot. Would it be possible to turn those 7 nights in one room into 3 nights in one and 4 nights in another (concurrent booking)? That way, we might only have to pay for one extra room-night to get everyone in the same hotel for 4 nights.
Does that make sense? Has anyone tried this before? I would appreciate any insight into this.
Thanks!

You may have to call MR and ask. I did call about the package with a similar question, and found that under the 7 day certificate they will allow you to do a 4 day and a 3 day at different motels. So what you're asking is possible. I would call MR and if you get a "no", thank them and hang up and call back and see what the 2nd rep tells you. If they say no ask for a customer service supervisor. If that rep still tells you no, I would give it up. Good luck.

This has been asked many times over the years. No you cannot. Many of us use 7 night certificates for fewer nights and just lose the balance.

Before Marriott went to the current "5th night Free" award structure, they used to have a couple of "Sampler" 7-night award packages that would allow one to stay at different hotels. They had one for Hawaii and one for Europe. But they did away with all of those when they went to the current award structure a few years ago.
Now if you are an MVCI owner, there is a 5-night version of the TP award that can be ordered for fewer points. But only MVCI owners can order that award.

Well, thanks anyway. Converting Marriott points into airmiles at an almost 1:1 ratio is a pretty good deal for me, and I guess getting some hotel nights out of it isn't a bad value either.
