Star Alliance - Get *A Gold benefits using non-gold card?

I am United Premier Gold (*A Gold) and will be flying Air China (*A member) though want to use Aegean FF # since they have rumored easy lifetime *A Gold membership.

If I credit my Air China flight to the non-Gold Aegean FF#, can I still flash the United Premier Gold (*A Gold) credentials and get benefits, like priority check-in and lounge access?

I suspect this is one of those "your mileage will vary" type of situations. I assume that technically I don't qualify for the *A Gold goodies, though haven't combed through all the terms and conditions to officially confirm it.

I'm sure this has come up many times before. What's the consensus?

Thanks.

Officially you are not entitled to any Gold benefits, but I have never flown Air China and maybe other members' experience suggest something different.

Just wanted to inform you that the Aegean Gold status is not lifetime status! It is good for 3 years with low qualification requirements (20K miles in a year).

I flew NH yesterday. I decided to credit the miles to NH, rather than US where I normally credit my miles and have status, because I was prettty sure that this fare cless would not earn US miles and this would eliminate the need for the "work around" when using the NH tool.

I had no problems with priority everything and lounge access

FYI, at check-in we went directly to the *A Gold counter and they checked us in without asking for identification. The agent just made some comment like "This is an economy ticket?" Seems like we can go to the priority counter even without status. I'm sure some people might attack me for even suggesting such a dishonest practice. :D To say again, I do have *A Gold so I don't feel like I'm cheating or making some more deserving person wait longer because I'm using access I'm not entitled to.

We did go to check out the lounge, and there was a long line while they checked people's credentials to enter. We did not want to wait, so just asked a server to grab us some water bottles which they did. So, can't confirm if they would have accepted a *A Gold card that was not credited on our tickets.

At the Air China lounge in PEK, the gatekeepers of the lounge were very focused on the BP having *G on it. I am *S. After a bit of pushing, I was able to get inside based on my full United Club membership (which had the "STAR ALLIANCE LOUNGE" printed on it).

I think if you show some *G ID card from the airline that you have *G status on, I think you should have a good chance to get it, but as others have pointed out, you technically might not be entitled to if your are not using the FFN that you have *G with.

According to people on FT, some carriers can add both of your cards, one for status and one for miles.

This is called double dipping

During Checkin, ask the attendant to insert FPP in FQTS for status, FQTV for the miles to be credited to. lowjhg

When you search on FT for FQTS and FQTV, people are also asking about this.

How do checked bag fees work in this situation (e.g., *G though LH but flying a domestic itinerary on US crediting the flight miles to a non-status US FF account)? I know that *G gets you an additional baggage allowance, but it's not clear what benefit (if any) there is for the first checked bag. Would this be a case where the FTQS language with a TA comes into play?

the trick for bags is use your *G card at check-in, the system will allow the xtra luggage, and enjoy the lounge, but change your FF number at the gate... be there a little bit earlier, since some gate agents get really busy and annoyed by these requests.
