New York City - LGA - Delta Sky Club / Marine Air Terminal / Baggage Check

Ok, I searched the forums, and couldn't find a direct answer to this one:

I am flying out of LGA, Marine Air Terminal, to ORD. I have a bag to check.
I want to spend some time at the Delta Sky Club before the flight.

Since the SkyClubs are over in Terminal D, I am wondering a few things:

1. Are either of the Sky Clubs before security?
2. Can I get past security with a ticket for a different terminal?
3. Can I check my bag at terminal D, even though my flight is in terminal A? (or is this just asking for it to get lost?)

There is no Sky Club at the Marine Air Terminal.

It's a small terminal in which baggage check is a breeze. Use the kiosk or go to the desk. Security is right there and it's speedy. They don't care if you have more than one ziploc bag of liquid toiletries. After security, walk up the ramp, pick up free newspapers and your choice of free obscure magazines, and then wait for your plane. In the morning, there is free coffee. You can dock your laptop easily at workstations. There is also an open bar in the seating area. Lots of outlets and USB chargers.

The Marine Air Terminal is the best terminal at any airport. Easy, fast, simple. Love, love, love the Delta Shuttle! Zip in, Zip out.

The Marine Air Terminal is nowhere near the other terminals. It's on other side of the airport. It's a bit of a hassle to get there using public transport. However, on the other hand the whole terminal is SkyClub, papers, etc. but no free alcohol and food although I think there is a little area for premium passengers.

2. Probably not.
3. Probably not.

The real answer to your questions, though, is that you don't want to go to Terminal D. The Marine Air Terminal may not have a Sky Club, but is otherwise a far superior experience in every way to Terminal D. As others have said, aside from the lack of food and free alcohol, the whole terminal is like one big Sky Club. Just go there and enjoy.
