China - Fuzhou hotels: recommendations?

Might bring family to visit ancestral home in Minhou. And also to visit Mawei. Looking to use Fuzhou as base for 2-3 day visit. Any recommendations for nice hotel.

I see there is a Shangrila hotel - are the other 5-star hotels available with comparable service? Any 4-star recommendations?

Recommend the Westin Hotel (Starwood) in Fuzhou, newer hotel with better interior, their Western coffee shop is the best in town and the hotel is beside a huge shopping mall.

We all have to start delurking in some manner...

Unfortunately, I cannot offer an answer to your question regarding four star hotels but I have stayed in the Fuzhou Shangrila. It was lovely of course. The only negative was the lack of sufficient power outlets.
