Swiss International Airlines - swiss business class

Hi are there noise cancelling headphones in business class? If so are they just for music or can you also use them to cancel out noise when trying to sleep. Thanks

You have to bring your own..... I don't know any carrier that supplies them in business, some do but only in first.

LX does on long haul, but not short.

Never seen them on the longhaul C flights I have been on..... Just the regular headphones.

And to answer your question, you should be able to use them just to cancel out noise without anything playing, but most noise cancelling headphones are rather bulky and are uncomfortable to wear when sleeping. Just use some earplugs :)

On all my LX C long-haul flights, the airline provides a pair of decent looking, OEM headphones (around-the-ear), but from all I can tell they do not have any active noise cancelling in them, i.e. there is no difference in the noise cancelled between when they are plugged in and when they're not.

I found that many airlines (incl. LX, LH) advertises hoise canceling headphones in their premium cabins. In comparison to the headphones in coach they do a better job in canceling the outside noise. But only "passively" with better isolating material.

They are definitely not ACTIVE noise canceling. That would require an additonal power source which is not delivered through the normal audio cable. Check Sennheiser or Bose for such things.

Again.... never seen any noise cancellation headphones on LX and LH C I flew the last couple of years, just the generic headphones. Don't even know if the C headphones are any different than the ones in Y....

I fly long haul on the A340 and have never seen real noise cancelling head phones. They are head phones for sure, just not the noise cancelling kind. So I carry my own Bose Quiet Comfort 15s.
