Hertz - Combine paid reservation with free gold plus points

Has anyone been able to add free days to extend a paid reservation without returning the car? Or to combine a paid rez with a free one?

I am trying to avoid paying a high weekly rate and the best solution would be to rent for 4 weekend days and add a free day to the end. However it would be very inconvenient (2 hours RT :( ) to return the car mid-rental.

And don't want to risk having the contract "re-fared" on the return.

Any ideas?

Not possible to combine revenue and award booking(s). Just like you can't change a revenue plane ticket with air miles.

I figured that. So will they let me keep the car past the deadline and just transition to the other reservation? To use your analogy when I've booked consecutive hotel reservations (paid followed by points) I have never had to vacate the room... :)

Not possible.:( I guess hope that the extra day charge will not be so high maybe 40 - 70 bucks that's still be cheaper than the weekly rate! (It all depends whats the weekend rate?)

I combined a points booking for a free day and a paid reservation not too long ago for a total of 4 days. I honestly didn't think I'd be able to do it, but the online reservation system let me...

I had a problem on the return with the free day not being applied (long story), but that was easily taken care of with a phone call to Hertz Customer Service.

That's wrong. You can combine. The issue here is that your mid-rental and points are generated as a PC.
