I have a weekend planned in the Tampa/St Petersburg area for the second weekend in February. Weather.com lists average high around 74 degrees for Tampa. I am thinking of going to Ft Desoto State Park that weekend. In general would it be warm enough for the beach that time of year.

It really is a crapshoot. I've been down there the first week of Feb. and had a frost delay at a golf course I had an early tee time at. On the other hand, it could be gorgeous. Really, no way to positively plan one way or the other. You're going to have to be flexible.

Early February is iffy, late February is usually nice. Nighttime can get chilly, and if a cold front comes through expect wind and rain. This winter was gorgeous, the two before were pretty cold by St Pete standards.

Iffy. Most likely dry (maybe a couple of hours of showers for a cold front, but often a week or more in between fronts). But temps can be up and down.

Most likely no worry about frost right on the coast like that. But the water probably won't be pleasant for most people. The air temps during the day may be 80 or so some days; maybe not even 70 on others.

One thing is for sure - it will be much nicer in FL then than in NY!
