There is one pilot who comes out and introduces himself individually to everyone in F before departure. He doesn't have the loudest voice - so you have to listen carefully to hear what he is saying.
This got me thinking about something I had forgotten about. Back in the early 2000's I seem to remember flying AS first and had the captain a few times come out in person, and while not introducing himself individually, giving a quick pre-flight briefing to the FC cabin. He didn't say anything he wasn't going to say over the PA in a few minutes, but it seemed like a nice personal touch for the FC cabin. I haven't had this happen to me in a long time, I was wondering if it was pilot discretion or if this is something that used to happen that no longer does?
