Practical Travel Safety Issues - silver nitrate = a problem??

Just had an accident that ended up with getting chemical cauterization done on a wound. Silver nitrate was used for the cauterization. I'm flying in two days. Is that silver nitrate going to alarm??? I have to keep the gaping hole in my finger covered because exposure to light will turn the skin around the would black...

I already opt out of all nude-o-scoping. What issues can I expect to run into??? If anyone goes near the wound, I'll be involuntarily screaming because the nerves that were exposed will fire off on even a sideways glance at them...

Guessing you are OK. Can't have any more metal than the gold I normally wear going through. When wanded or moving through a portal it never sets the alarm off.

In your shoes, I'd worry a lot less about the possibility that you're going to alarm for nitrates than that some TSA employee with an imaginary MD is going to demand that you uncover the wound.

Yeah, I am worried about the TSA MD hassle. For the wound, my finger has gauze over the area, then wrapped and the wrapping goes around once to my wrist to keep the finger wrap from slipping off. I could always over wrap the finger and wrist with purple self-stick wrap that would look like cast rather than just a bandage. Then, I'd only have to worry about the cast-o-scope, which I don't think SLC and SNA have. The "nitrate" part of "silver nitrate" worries me. Too many mentions of being "caught" after being on the golf course, put lotion on hands, etc.
I wish I could drive, but I can't take that much time this trip. I do have my GE and have it entered as my Trusted Traveler ID, so I'm hoping to at least get Pre-Check at SLC.

As a passionate amateur chef, I cut/burn my fingers, hands very often. To avoid TSA MD-s to ask me to uncover my wounds, I wear slightly oversized long sleeve shirts, hinding my fingers in the sleeves. If they do not see, they will not feel the urge to play doctor.

Silver nitrate is radio-opaque. I've heard of this confusing doctors on x-ray, I would expect it would cause problems with the x-ray scanners.

Get a note from the doc that treated you stating:

- nature of the wound
- what the treatment was and medications used
- that the wound must remain covered for correct healing

...on his prescription papers.

I'm assuming you will be fine. My mom goes through TSA
without them taking a knife to her hip to verify her prothesis.
