Finnair is announcing its intention of reducing cabin attendants by 120 (of total 1700).

This seems to be an effect of staff refusing to accept to be transfered.

Well, at the end they either accept or lose their jobs altogether. As a fellow human I feel for them, but as an shareholder I see no other options. :(

If the transfer means agreeing to work conditions like those under FR, it is no surprise the CAs are reluctant. The pilots are at least offered to get free training on A330/340/350 and a chance to get re-hired back at AY at a later time.
It also says the reductions will be implemented first in 2014, and temporary lay-offs will occur in the meantime. So another 18 months of un-peace inside the company. I think the "From the customer point view, the change will be virtually unnoticed" statement is a bit optimistic.

For those customers opting to fly competition instead it will be... ;) Maybe AY PR are on it...for once! :D

Just travelled in C from Japan to Helsinki, and even though boarding was commenced 40 minutes prior departure on a routine flight, cabin crew had no time to serve a welcome drink in C-Class, not even a glass of water, nothing. Purser excused with a smile, and claimed due to reduced cabin crew.
I think people usually travelling intercontinental in business class will notice this change. :td:

I had a very opposite experience on recent AY J HEL-BKK flight. I had very warm and attentive service. I even got more champagne on ground. The cabin was c. 75 % full. I had an excellent flight :)
