My thoughts on an LX flight I took from LCY to ZRH in Business class.

Check in was quick. There is no separate line for Premium security. The existing lines were well managed and quick. I do not recall going through Immigration (can any one comment?).

As there is no lounge, at check they give you a voucher for £4 to spend at any book shop, bar restaurant etc. airside. There is free WiFi.

Gates are announced usually 30 - 45 minutes before the flight.

Our incoming plane was delayed, so our gate was announced 25 minutes before take off. There was a scrum for the gate. Most economy passengers were asked to gate check their roll aboard hand luggage bags. We boarded within 20 minutes of the plane arriving. There is no priority boarding.

On the Avro, J class seating is 2-2 while economy is 2-3. The load today in J was 4 pax (cutain was drawn at row 4).

Service was efficient and polite. I was addressed by name. We had a charcuterie board (very tasty), cheese board, warm bread, a desert and a good choice of drinks that included champagne, premium wines, beer, soft drinks, etc.

On arrival at ZRH, the Avro's remote park. There was a separate bus for Business class passengers.

Bags took around 15 minutes to get to the carousel from when we landed.

Overall a great flight, with good service.^

Yes. The UK, like the US but unlike most European countries, does not operate outbound passport control at any airport. It relies on airlines to perform the checks instead.

Occasionally you may encounter "police control" if they are looking for someone in particular, but this is not an immigration (emigration?) check.

This is how passport checks are done in LCY:

Just to add a few "updates" with regard to GVA-LCY.

Last week, they changed the GVA departure gates from B31 to a C gate, which resulted in lots of pax showing up late ("LX442 always departs B31 so I went there") to the bus. Same apron position on the return, good for HON with their limo pick-up but bad for other pax.

Trolleys get gate checked at LCY, whenever the flight is full. Status doesn't help, a C ticket does. They don't check at GVA.

With very warm or very cold weather in GVA there have been "weight restrictions" - in my ample experience this happens often on the evening flight (LX447) - so they have to bump up to 8 pax, not finding enough volunteers for the next day's flight or a reroute (less chance now that MUC will disappear). This always leads to heated debate on a business-traveller heavy route.

This has been consistent on 5 out of my last 6 LCY-GVA flights, so anyone willing to spend another night at LON, courtesy of LX and earn 250 euros and potentially double miles might look at this route :-)
