Miles & More (Lufthansa, Austrian, Swiss, and other partners) - Question about Lufthansa online check in.

Hey folks.

I entered my booking number and I could retrieve the information of my flight to

Turkey - Munich
Munich - San Francisco.

I checked in seats for both me and my wife

From Turkey to Munich we are on row 7
From Munich to San Francisco we are on row 29

Under both of our names it says already checked in.

However when i go to MY BOOKING section on lufthansa.com

next to the Turkey - Munich Flight it writes N/A under seating

NExt to Munich - San Francisco flight it writes the old seat numbers that we got when we booked the tickets 2 months ago. Row 50...

What is the problem?

Does it take some time for the information under MY BOOKING section to be updated?

Are we good if it says already checked in under online check in?

Our flight is less than 20 hours btw.

I don't think pre-reserved seats under "my bookings" are updated on check-in. If you are already holding your BPs with the "correct" seat numbers, no problem here. Just walk up to the seats printed on your boarding passes and you'll be fine.

The bookings display what is in the reservation system (aka GDS or CRS), the online checkin is a view of the departure control system(DCS). Changes in details in the DCS are not always mirrored in the GDS, especially once checkin opens. The GDS often has a 'flt in cki' message once that happens, ie it asks agents not to trust the seat map.

Great to know thank you. I also just went to online check in and decided to print my boarding pass and yes the seat numbers are assigned correctly.

Too bad i will still have to go to the kiosk and give them my luggage. Otherwise it would be nice just to walk in directly to the plane with the printed boarding passes...

Thank you Bruce80

One last question to all.

My entire flight is booked under 1 booking number. I will also be using United Airlines in USA on 2 occasions. Will i still check in via the lufthansa online check in system for United Airlines flights?

I am asking this because when i enter my booking confirmation code i can see my United Airlines flight and pre reserved seat numbers for those flights too.

SO all i have to trust is the seat number i have when i check in online myself than? thank you.

are they not testing those automated luggage terminals in munich yet??

They are still messing around with automated luggage systems? They used to have them years ago in FRA and DUS. I've tried to use them once, in DUS. Didn't work for me. Back in the days when I didn't have any status with LH et al. This meant I had to walk up to the Y counters, worked like a breeze. I can easily live without those sociopath-friendly devices.

Often worth looking at www.checkmytrip.com to see what has been assigned and also check in information.

This still shows that my trip to Turkey-Germany is unassigned
Germany-USA assigned with the very fist seatings.

However in luftnahsa checkin i have the new seating numbers.

I am worried and confused.

I think I have the opposite problem. I was able to find an exit row seat in 'my bookings' but when I checked in (slightly more than 23 hours, but it still let me), it's assigning me my old assigned seat (and showing the exit rows as booked). Any advice? Still a few more minutes to go until check in officially opens (I'm not sure why it lets me access check in >23 hours out), but figured I'd ask.....

Probably unrelated to the OP, but yes, MUC has about 30 of those machines in service since 2003, they work fine. The next gen is in testing, FRA has a few already, MUC will switch to them next year.
