Emirates Skywards - New F & J Bulgari Amenity Kits

New First and Business amenity kits are starting to be distributed thru the system (they began June 16). Haven't seen them as yet and my guess, is it will take 2-3 weeks before all aircraft stocks are updated.

I only saw a picture of them in DXB yesterday....

Oh goody, I'm back on board EK next month so I look forward to collecting another four of them!

Flying this weekend LGW -DXB- DEL. Will report back if I get the new kits.
I was not very impressed with the old Kits to be honest. Though the kit and contents are fine, the zip seems to of very poor quality.

Or maybe I just got a dodgy batch!!!.

The new J kit (not sure on F) is Unisex (no more white kits for the laddies...). The kit is defiantly smaller and somewhat "cheaper" in my opinion.

Looks like the Razor and Shaving Cream have been removed but are still available in the lav. The kit comes in a small linen over bag. The kit itself does not have a zipper but rather a flap that just flops over the front and semi-secured by a smal magnet. Not very secure unless you put the kit back into the linen bag.

Enhancements is a recently adopted word here in the UAE which describes various things such as "reduced", "cheapened", "removed", "now you see it now you don't", etc., etc..

I guess you need to consider for whom the enhancements have been implemented in favour of and if you (me) stop being selfish and self-centered for one minute and accept that the "enhancements" are in favour of the one making the enhancements rather than the customer then it all becomes crystal clear and much easier to accept. In short the enhancements are for them and not us.

Company name is actually Bulgari. But they use the V for their trademark logo to try and give it a more sophisticated / historical / luxurious feel by replacing the 'U' with the Latin equivalent 'V'.

The women's kits for the previous range seemed to look cheaper than the men's ones.

It looks like the contents are about the same as before, but they've cheapened the kit. I quite liked the old ones, since they make great toilet bags. The new one looks like something everyone will want to leave on the plane.

Oh, that's a drag! I thought the best part of the old kit was the shaving cream and razor! I don't mind the little shavers in the lav, and do like the smell of the shaving gel, but honestly I haven't needed to buy shaving cream in a long time thanks to the kits!

The lotion/cologne is fine but "Au The Rouge" is not really my style I guess, I wish they would change that!

And why is is that they have removed ear plugs? Is it some kind of "insurance" thing about hearing emergency announcements?

And while I'm on a roll, does anyone else find the straps on the eye shades too short? I don't think I necessarily have a big head but, man, I feel like my eyeballs are being pressed into my brain when I wear them!

The days of having any true loyalty to an airline brand are long gone.

Thankfully, my origin or destination points aren't Dubai, so I do have a choice of a few other carriers. EK is now my choice only if they are one of the cheapest.

In the end (at least in my case), EK's cost cutting has led to revenue cutting as well.

The F kits look good. Especially the men's.
And the the shape seems to give more structural rigidity that the previous version.

The Mens kit certainly is heavier than the old one and feels better. I like the fact that it comes with an outer bag (easier to carry). As far as I can tell, the contents are exactly the same as the old kit.

The ladies kit is a soft sort of feel material. Again, seems to have the same contents.

I am curious how you make a kit unisex by removing the seemingly male specific products (razor and shaving cream) and adding in seemingly female specific products (mirror and moist towlette) but maybe that is just my age!!!!

The contents of the new male F kit, with the exception of the different deodorant, are identical to the contents of the old J kit, so that hasnt gone unisex.

We are getting really spoiled. I don't see what the complaints are about.
The older kits were great to use as storage when travelling. I typically take 4 empty ones on every long haul trip 1/my toiletrees 2/medicines, etc 3/electronics (power cords, etc) 4/great camera bag. The new ones look nice but not for use after a flight. Let's face it. We are spoiled. I have about 30-40 unopened kits in my closet. All from EK/CX/SQ/OZ/LH/LX. EK's is by far the best quality on the bunch. I liked the old LH/TG mini suitcases but sadly, those are gone. TG gives a nice TUMI bag w some useful stuff and LH is hit or miss. I keep getting the Porsche kits on the 380 which are nice but then on most other flights it's just a cheap zipper bag. EK has had the best kits IMHO for years. I will sometimes even ask for INE from J just to mix things up

I came out MAN - DXB ont he way to KUL 2 days ago, and it was still the "old" style kit, withthe useful can of shaving foam etc ! Suits me JUST fine !

If they haven't switched the kit to unisex then everyone on DXB-SEA received the woman's kit, as the gentlemen sitting next to me on the aisle side and the window both received the same things in their kit. Bags and content were identical to mine.

I just flew F on the 380 and the men's amenity kit was the old style and the purser said he didn't know anything about, nor saw, a new style.

Having said that, I have seen the rather large document showing that new amenity kits were coming June 16th complete with photos.

So we can all assume that you have not flown in J with the new amenity kits? This is due to the lack of photos posted on your behalf.

Until someone else posts some more photos of the J kit we can all asume you are sitting in your basement complaining on the internet about an amenity kit you have never seen in person...

When I leave my basement(?) in September to fly LHR-DXB-BNE in J, returning October, I shall, as I did on the same round trip in J in April/May, collect amenity kits on three of the four legs, this time the new ones I guess. A reasonable statistical sample I would suggest.

And should those kits be UNISEX I will happily come on here and say so. And if not, as seems likely....

Clearly the dark brown with Schick Extreme 3 is the way to go, replacing in a way what is lost by the new kit, minus the shaving foam. But again, maybe they have always been available?

I flew DXB-BKK yesterday, got my first ever upgrade to F, that was a drunken celebration! It was worse than a Dubai brunch, ie. excellent! Finally got to try the shower, etc. etc., but they still had the old kits. :( not that I'm really complaining, just curious to see the new ones. And I got to answer my own question about the shaving packets and the difference between F and J. Cheers!

no real criticism intended but I'm in awe of the effort and attention to the debate and discussion on the amenities packs. I'm in the planning stages of a west coast US-DXB-JNB-CPT-DXB-home routing and will find out soon enough what the Bvlgari package is like - that will answer any remaining qvestions I might have.

Though I must say I am bemused - sounds a tad like a Shakespearean comedy, "Much Ado..."
