Can someone who has access to the tools that can lookup seat availability check and see how many J class slots are open on this flight?
Also onward via CX695 on the 22nd.
Marco Polo won't tell me and my deadline is today... I really don't like this last minute 'greyness' ... but they aren't coughing up a seat, yet I can still book them online.
Thanks so much.

Out of curiosity, what is your status on CX? If you're a DM, that pretty much confirms that the benefit we used to enjoy (revenue seats released to award) has not returned.

I'm Silver ... I fly the route 2-3 times a year - for the past 7 years. 95% of the time I get revenue seats that have been released - rarely is there a reward seat available - especially on the long haul. I usually get it a week or two before my deadline for ticket issue, but the past few trips - they drag it out to the bitter end (understandably), and end up giving me two one way redemptions, using an additional 10K worth of points.
If their online booking system is any indication - I can still book at least 4 J's for the route as of today - 4 days out.

Yea this is another one of the annoying aspects of the new system...they force you to burn two one-ways because they won't confirm. Such crap. If the return reward comes through, assuming you tried booking a round-trip at reservation time, you should just be charged for the round-trip IMO. Lame business practice that doesn't earn CX a whole lot (12-15% more Asia Miles redeemed), and pisses off customers because you feel like you're getting gypped at no fault of your own.
This is an interesting conundrum which is highlighted by this post:

With the new CX policies, if the award is available, you now need to issue immediately. But other programs don't have the same restrictions. So AA passengers can hold seats on CX without ticketing, while CX's own loyalty members cannot. Where is the justice in that??

I see chances being slim. BTW, what do you mean that MPO will not tell you? I always ask them for UG availability. Normal redemption avaialbility can be looked up on CX's website.

Also, please tell us the origin and the destination of FLTs next time, so we do not have to look that up first before getting you the availability.

837 you should get at 24 hours but keep checking, 695 don't think much chance there.
Also may I suggest that if requesting information like this you could include the routes. It would have saved me a lot of time.

Thanks ernestnywang for looking that up. Sorry about no destinations - thought all i needed was flight number.
All they say is that there is no upgrade availability "check back tomorrow" ... but i can never find out how long the wait list is, or from them - how many revenue seats are left. If I check for redemption availability on the site - it just spits an error and tells me to call in to find out. They did tell me that I can still book online because they overbook.

Well...yes, neither can any of us tell you how long the waitlist is.

You don't need to know the length, you need to know how many DMs and GOs are on the waitlist since they'll have priority over you. Although they won't give you #s just ask in a friendly manner if "there are a lot of Diamonds and Gold passengers" on the waitlist? So you can ballpark your chances.

48 hours out - I just called in again and got an upgrade on the outgoing sector. They somehow went from 'overbooked' yesterday to having a seat for me. they must have upgraded some Diamonds or Golds to First Class.

TA's seem to be able to hold CX seats up to 48/24hrs. I've seen many oversold flights open up in that period.

That just adds to my frustration with the "system" ... Cathay ends the 'waitlist' (for Silver at least) 4 days out ... so the last few days when the revenue seats do get released - there's no waitlist to automatically get them. Marco Polo told me to call in twice a day to try ... What a waste of resources.
Anyway ...
