Have you been to Amsterdam before? Prior to the past 4 or 5 years? If so, you will be greatly disappointed. I've visited Amsterdam dozens of times (I used to have a Dutch boyfriend), and the place is now just a sad state of itself. Most of the bars and clubs seem to have gone bye-bye. I was there last summer (after not being there for 3 or 4 years-- aside from connecting at AMS). It's changed so much. It doesn't seem like any Dutch people live there anymore. And it's not like the place is cheap either. Enjoy your trip!!! :D

Hotel prices inflate by 60-80% for the weekends (mostly due to many European tourists and stag parties that come for 1 or 2 night stays). In terms of the gay scene, I found it a great disappointment. In the red light district, there are gay bars that are leather/kink/daddy themed. Walk down to Amstel and there are more gay bars, but not many for those younger. There is an afterhours club next to the Lesbian bar Vivalvie that everyone tends to go to dance (gay/straight/lesbian) and a gay bar a block away with gogo boys and that bar is as well an afterhours establishment.

Almost all of the clubs that were closed have re-opened recently or will re-open soon. The Reguliersdwarsstraat is regularly crowded again: Soho for the cute, young men and Taboo for a more mixed crowd, and Exit bar for the after-hours.
Many of the (semi) leather bars in the Warmoesstraat have recently re-opened.
Also check out Bump and Spijker in Kerkstraat, Prik close to Dam Square, and Rouge on Amstel.

Hi mates,
I wanna go to AMS 2nd weekend of August and go to Club Church for xxxl.leatherparty on 11.Aug
Have been to AMS quite a few times but never to Club Church so far...any ideas..is it worth? Warmoesstraat has become a bit quiet even though Eagle has been re-opened again...Argos has become rather quiet..
Any ideas / tips / recommendations?

I agree. Though it's been a couple of years since I sampled the nightlife in Amsterdam, even then, things were far from what they used to be.
It can still be fun, but don't go build up your expectations too much. Depending on what you're looking to do, there are other places in Europe that may turn out better.

I think you mean Amsterdam, right? :D

I agree rather with Sjoerd than Fanjet, but I cannot compare many years back. I would also recommend bars like Chez Rene and Montmartre that close to Rembrandtplein/Amstel.
Well it's middle of July, so you might have already visited. Any places that you liked?
