Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - What Goes Into Making a FS Marriott Bed

Happened to be doing some work in my room at the Miami Marriott Biscayne Bay when housekeeping arrives. I'm off to the side of the room so that housekeeping can do their thing uninterrupted; punching away at my iPad as not to make the housekeeper feel like I'm hovering.

So I glance over as she "changes" my sheets. The pillowcases are stripped from the pillows but the larger sham pillows are tossed to the floor, as is the comforter. The top sheet is removed but the bottom sheet is merely left on and tightened from one corner. She returns to the room with a replacement top sheet and pillowcases and begins to reassemble the bed. So to recap:
Replaced - top sheet, pillowcases
Reused - bottom sheet, pillow shams and comforter

Now I don't expect the comforter to be washed upon every use. But i usually sleep with the larger sham pillows as they are much firmer than the traditional down pillows. But I'm beginning to rethink that habit. Am I being fussy in expecting the bottom sheet and pillow shams to be changed along with the rest of the linens?

Why would anythign be changed if the same person is staying the next night?

IME it's an option and there's a card on or near the bed. Leave the card on the bed if you want the linens changed; off the bed if you don't. In this case there was no card so I was curious what housekeeping would do as a default. Apparently they change half the linens. Everyone wins! :D

I thought they just arranged everything nicely when they came into my room. My guess was that unless requested, they just keep everything tidy in the room and make sure you have sufficient supplies of soap, shampoo, etc. It should be similar to the towels in the bathroom. If you hang them up, I think they just re-fold them back on the rack. If it's on the floor, it means, please exchange. I'm not saying you should throw the pillows/sheets on the floor (those should be upon request) ;)

Perhaps that guest is bringing back someone different each night during their stay?

This is like seeing how kitchens in restaurants work. You probably don't want to know...

In my culture, the floor is dirty. You don't want to put anything on it that will touch the rest of you.

I have observed houskeeping throwing things on the floor, folding towels on the floor, etc. If I see how things work, I probably will end up bringing my own sheets.

Then it is the same hands/gloves who clean the toilets and your sink...

I could have done with out that vision.

At first I thought, no problem. She made the bed and then cleaned my bathroom. Then I thought, wait a second....Following that same sequence she cleaned the prior room's toilet just before making my bed. And I'm sure there's no hand-washing going on between rooms.

You're right. I'm better off not knowing. :D

Not this time. ;) Ah, to be in my 20s again.

All linens are changed (including duvet) after a guest checks out, otherwise lines are changed every few days
