Hi all - long time lurker, first time poster so be gentle!

I want to make a booking on LX using my OZ miles, but there's a possibility I may need to move / cancel it and I was wondering whether you get back 100% of the miles / fees?

IMO the website isn't particularly clear:

"Award tickets may not be changed or transferred, and miles may not be re-credited into the member's account after tickets have been issued. Miles may be recredited into member's account if no portion of the award tickets has been used."

http://us.flyasiana.com/Global/US/en/homepage?fid=CLUB16210#star03

By issued, do they mean check-in?

Did a search but couldn't find anything so apologies if it has already been answered.

I have found Asiana to be very inconsistent with change rules on *A tickets. I booked a ticket recently through their London office and had free date changes, but another ticket through Frankfurt office was initially shown on my ticket as FREE CHNG/FREE CANX but upon the first change they said max one date change, no routing changes, and cancellation charges apply. Arguing that the conditions stated on the ticket are those that apply, not current ticketing policies was met with typical Asiana service inflexibility.

Anyway, long story short here is the text at the bottom of an award ticket for refunds in addition to 1 free date change:

"Asiana award tickets are valid for 12 months from the date of ticket issuance. For refund of unused award tickets(including upgrade award) of international flight issued as of Oct 1, 2008, $30 or 3,000 miles should be paid if the request is made with the validity. For the refund request after the validity expires, $100 or 10,000 miles should be paid. Every segment traveling with a bonus air ticket is subject to peak/normal periods as of the boarding date, and mileage is further redeemed by 50% for the peak season."

I had a combination OZ + *A award ticket, meaning it was basically a *A award ticket and noticed the same poor wording as you. I ended up needing to cancel and was able to do so without any problem, and all my miles returned. But cannot guarantee they'll do the same in all instances.

Thanks guys - that's really useful - it sounds like if there will be a penalty it shouldn't be too onerous. Plus hopefully I won't have to cancel!
