Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - YYZ-HKG Upgrade Availability - Jun 16/2012

Hello everyone,

So I did not clear the waitlist on this one and MPC advised me to re-ask for the upgrade at the CX counter at the airport tomorrow to see if a seat opens up due to no-shows, rescheduling, or missed connections.

Can anyone please to assist me to check the availability of CX829 for Jun 16? As well, if I wanted to request for an upgrade at the CX counter at the airport, should I do online check in now or should I wait?

Nowadays J is hard to get on YYZ route due to significant reduction in flights/ and number of seats per flight. J often goes out fairly full now.

op-up will only get to Y+ not J.

I guess at this point no reason to not do OLCI as even op-up to Y+ is better than Y. If J is still available, I am sure the staff in YYZ can still handle it.

Thank you, everyone! Just to clarify I was going for a redemption upgrade (U) and not an op-up, although I wouldn't be oppsosed to getting an op-up. I was waitlisted a month ago but did not clear the waitlist.

So just to clarify, if I do OLCI right now and a U seat opens up in J, I would still be able to upgrade at the check-in counter at YYZ? Reason I'm asking is because I seem to read a thread in this forum (somewhere I cannot seem to find right now) stating that once you do OLCI, the system "locks you down" and you cannot make an upgrade, even if one is available, at the airport.

Upgrade booking made via MPO / AM involves re-issuing the TKT, so one needs to undo OLCI (if done) to make the TKT coupon status change to "OPEN" before the re-issue can take place. There is no "lock" as OLCI can be undone online.

Additionally, at the airport, if a J seat is available they will let you UG with miles. At that point whether the seat is available in the U inventory or not no longer matter.
