Hi guys,
Does booking through hotelclub.com earn night credit? What if I add on some breakfast cost or whatsoever? Thanks a lot.
Regards=)

You have been on these boards long enough that you should know that only booking thru Marriott.com and perhaps American Express's travel website will get you points.
Nothing else will generate points but price matching marriott.com to hotelclub.com or any other site will get you points so long as you book thru marriott.com.
No other online site will work.

Sorry, but thanks a lot for your reply=) I saw some seniors post about their being credited by adding some room-service on their room booked through 3rd party, that's something not consistent right? Thanks a lot=)

I ve had this done by mistake, when someone else pays for the stay (airline, conference organizer), but NEVER when booking through an OTA. I guess the difference is that in my cases the bookings are made directly with the hotel. The use of an OTA prevents these kinds of mistakes..
Of course your elite benefits apart from points/nights are still good if you provide your MR number at check-in!! :)

It is quite simple - if you pay hotelclub.com and then they book and pay the hotel and you get a voucher to hand over at checkin you will NOT get nights credit nor points. You will get points for any addition spend on food and beverage etc. You will be entitled to any elite benefits.
If you book thru a third party but you pay the hotel directly for the room then you should be entitled to nights credit and points for the stay.

I do not believe the above is correct and I see no need to test this. Either the 3rd party site is the same as Marriott.com in which case there is no incentive to book anywhere but Marriott.com or it is less and then you should have Marriott.com match the rate and then undercut it by 25% due to their best rate guarantee.
Just because one books via a 3rd party website while you pay the hotel directly does not establish your entitlement to points, as Marriott.com is clear that only by booking by Marriott.com or a travel agent, will you get points.
Unlike booking an airplane ticket via a 3rd party site where you will get miles if your fare earns miles and you input your frequent flier number, no such assurance is made for booking via a 3rd party site and then later inserting your frequent stay number, for most if not all of the hotel chains, at least that I am aware of.
Therefore, when in doubt, always book via the hotel's own website.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but why on earth would you book through hotelclub.com when you can make a "Look No Further" best rate guarantee claim through Marriott and get the same room for 25% LESS than the hotelclub.com rate PLUS your Marriott Rewards points? I'd love to know the answer!

you are correct..the method of payment does not effect earning potential...it's quite simple - if the rate is a "wholesaler rate" it does not earn credit...what isn't simple is determining if the rate being sold by the "Online Travel Agent" is a wholesaler rate or a Public rate (they have access to both)...the only way to be certain is to inquire with the Online Travel Agent which rate is being presented to you

Hmm, there's something weird, before I started this thread, I emailed directly to the hotel asking about this. And now I got the reply saying that I could get the night credit/points, what I need to do is to show my membership card upon check-in. Not going to try though.
I'm asking about this it's because hotelclub.com is having promotion, using MYR 130 to buy 80reward points which worth 80USD. If someone is interested, just have a look.
