Checkpoints and Borders Policy Debate - Jewelry through checkpoint?

I am sure this has been asked here before, but danged if I can find it. The only jewelry threads I can find are about TSA stealing. Ha.
I NEVER travel with fine jewelry except my wedding and engagement rings, which aren't exactly small, and have never set off the naked scanned or regular metal detector. I'm traveling for a wedding here in a few weeks and would like to bring some other nice jewelry. Obviously checking it is out of the question and my luggage is hand searched at the checkpoint about 80% of the time when I am not selected for PreCheck (advice on that welcome as well) so I'm wary of putting it in there. Which brings me to my question - How much jewelry can I wear without setting off a naked scanner? I'm not talking over the top here, just my rings (which have never been an issue) plus gold bracelet and necklace.

You are probably fine, but you never know with the TSA. A necklace might show up on a body scanner - the metal tab on my 1/4 zip pullover tends to. Gets me a light neck pat down.
You could also put it in your carry on in a (non-TSA compliant) locked compartment. That way you will need to be present if they want to search it.

I carry mine in a clear plastic bag inside the zippered area of my purse which I lock inside my carry on bag. If they do need to remove my jewelry baggie from my purse, I always insist on a supervisor. When the search is over I ask the person searching my luggage to please remove their gloves and turn them inside out. Never does my jewelry leave my sight during a search. I take inventory (written down) immediately after having access to my items while the supervisor and TSO are still present. It is better to be safe than sorry while dealing with expensive items.

At one of my home airports, I can't even get them to change gloves before touching me or let me hold my bags from the x-ray machine until I am ready to go through the naked scanner. But I will try this.

You can always send the valuable items via UPS or FedEx...

Or you could buy some costume stuff for traveling and leave the expensive stuff at home. If I were a TSO and I really wanted the jewelry that you put inside of a locked case, I'm taking that whole case with me.
Locking your carry-on through security is the only safe way to go about it, and even then, the TSO now knows that you have expensive jewelry in your suitcase. Guess whose flight is going to be randomly selected for additional screening?

I do generally wear costume jewelry while traveling - just getting tired of it.
Figured since my rings haven't posed a problem, other stuff might not either, but I guess it's not worth trying.

If they're too much to wear through the metal detector I would go with a locked container inside your carryon.

Solution - buy jewelry that isn't metal! I make jewelry out of glass beads :) (shameless plug - www.greendragonartist.com) Hehehehhe... I never have a problem. Even the toggles can be made entirely out of seed beads.
