Hello,
Planning on booking BKK-SIN-DPS in July on SQ J. I know for a fact that BKK-SIN is almost always the old J product, but does anyone know if SIN-DPS segment features the new regional J product? I looked through old trip reports but only found the old J seats reported.
Thanks!

I love SQ. But why not take TG BKK-DPS nonstop in J? Probably cheaper than SQ, certainly faster. Planning to stopover in SIN?

Yes, unless you get TG'd (in which then the product would be similar to the recliners on SQ), most of their aircraft operating BKK-DPS have angled lie-flat Business Class.

Pretty simple. I am redeeming SQ miles, so taking SQ metal gets me the 15% discount. Travelling with a family of 3 so the 15% adds up!

What about the DELHI to SINGAPORE route? Old or new J class?

A tip to all who want to find what seating there is on a specific flight: make a "dummy" booking in business class on the flight you wish to find out the seating configuration for. As long as the flight is not full (ie you can still buy seats for that flight) you can go all the way through to seat selection which brings up the seat map for the flight.
If that seat map shows a 777 with 2-3-2 configuration in business call it is the older product. It it shows 2-2-2 then it is the new regional product.

Not sure if it matters but SQ has been rotating in a 3 class product on the BKK-SIN route - I had no problem calling the call center and getting a F class seat, this too on an Aeroplan business class reward ticket with no *A status at all. Your mileage may vary depending on dates and timings.

So really you have selected Regional SQ which IMHO is more Premium Economy also likely slightly higher taxes, plus a Stop for your family rather than the comfort of a Non-Stop TG Long Haul Configured Business Class. At least you can all sit in a row of seats together with SQ.

Which premium economy do you travel on which is similar to SQ Regional Business Class?

I was thinking the same thing! Most complaints about SQ Regional Business Class are understandably from those stuck in them overnight, they're atrocious for sleeping in. But for a 2 hour sector, they are extremely comfortable, in fact more padded than a lot of the seats that convert in angled flat or fully flat beds. Also they are superior to what you would find in Business Class on a 2 hour flight in many parts of the world.
I was going to say in some parts of the world, for a short flight they would be considered First Class, but that's not really fair to SQ, as the seats are better than what passes for short haul First Class in lots of places.

:D Only SE Asia regional route that I have seen with new J was one of the Manila flights on an A330 (lunch time one SIN-MNL IIRC).

Actually, the 333 runs to KUL every day on 118/119 and 106/107/116/117 weekdays - so it's quite common :)

Similar to OLD SQ Regional Business Class
QF - A380, TG - A340, VS - A330, NH -787, TK New 777, And please dont think I am totally against SQ 777 Regional...CX Regional on the 777 is even worse.
But for me the TG 777 used on Regional is The Best.

I assume you are talking about premium economy (Y+) compared to SQ regional business class. The statistics (according to Seat Gurua are:
SQ (Business) : Pitch 50", Width 20"
QF (A380 Y+) : Pitch 38-42", Width 19.5"
TG (A340 Y+) : Pitch 42", Width 19"
VS (Y+): Pitch: 38", Width 21"
NH (Y+): Pitch: 38", Width 18.5"
TK (Y+): Pitch: 46", Width: 19.5"
So, width is same, but seems that except for TK the distance between seats is much better in SQ regional J. The difference between having someone recline into your face and not.
But these comparisons are futile, you could make the same comparisons between an airlines long haul premium economy to just about any airline's short haul fleet and get the same (or worse) results. For many airlines, in a 2 hour flight all you will have in business class is economy class with the middle seat blocked!
TG does, on the face of it seem better, but there's always the chance they will substitute a different entirely random aircraft. Or even worse an A300.

I highly doubt that seat gives you nearly as much recline and leg space that SQ offers, and not to mention the non-existent leg rests

Not sure if you've actually flown in NZ Premium Economy but from what I've gathered, the seat looks nice in the photos but in reality it's tight.
Is there a full list that shows which routes have the new medium haul J product.
Really hate the old J product.
Right now I'm just wondering which South East Asian routes have them.
