Travel Technology - iPad In-Flight GPS Tracker?

Heading to the Lav on UA788 on 11 June, I spotted someone in the window seat with an iPad app that appeared to be utilizing the iPad's GPS to track the flight progress over a fixed map overlay.
I wasn't able to ask the name of the app. I'm guessing that the fixed map was previously downloaded locally to the iPad (no WiFi signal on N513UA).
Does anyone know of iPad apps such at these? I'd like to get one too! Some sort of app that utilizes the iPad's GPS and overlays the coordinates over a fixed map.

You sure it wasn't WindowSeat (http://www.windowseatapp.com/)?

The screen shots of WindowSeat doesn't look familiar to what I saw on that flight. Thanks though, that does look like a neat app.

AvimapGPS
Moving map over aviation sectional charts including speed/heading data. iPad 1 works better with a supplemental GPS antenna like the "Badelf". You can download and cache sectional charts for flights where wifi is not available.

This would indeed be way, way cool. But I thought that the iPhone/iPad would have difficulty doing GPS in-flight (particularly in a commercial aircraft) when they could not connect to cell towers; isn't the IOS GPS assisted GPS?
(I have have a Gobi chip in my laptop and an old edition of MS Streets and Trips. On the right aircraft, going the right direction, I can indeed use the Gobi's GPS function -- which isn't assisted GPS -- to see the current position and track on the Streets and Trips map. But it would be cool to have an overlay of the actual sectionals or high altitude charts)

Yes. My ThinkPad has the Gobi chip in it as well. ThinkPad has a piece of software that has the map downloaded locally so you can get a very general idea of where you are. I've also got MS MapPoint installed and that will interface with the Gobi and track. It's pretty neat to see the car icon bobbing over the Pacific (MapPoint is designed for vehicle navigation). :D

Prior to my current IPad/Avimap setup I used a Garmin GPS 18 USB antenna with their "nroute" software on my Sony laptop. The antenna is a little smaller than a mouse and has a 30 inch cord. The antenna had to be near a window, but then I am a "window seat gawker" and a compulsive navigator anyway. The Garmin maps were highway style and lacked a lot of terrain, but it was still fairly easy to identify ground features.
