Heidelzeitung (http://www.handelszeitung.ch/) article suggesting that LX may split formally into 2 airlines. One dedicated only to Euro routes, while other handles all long haul.

Sounds like they are going to clean up the overlap that exists between Swiss European and Swiss int'l who both operate intra-europe routes. Sounds like an attempt to create an LCC and get out from under some labor liabilities.

Maybe time to resurrect the Swissair name, and then they can call one Swiss, the other Swissair ?

I can officially deny it. We are NOT going to split our company into to parts as well as won't outsource the European business outside of Switzerland. This are only rumors by Swiss press.
Best regards,
Christian

Thx Christian, it does not make sense as the costs to company fully burdened with social charges will be higher than in Switzerland, as well as a higher tax burden for the transferred personnel. In addition we have one of the most flexible labor laws in Europe. Imagine cabin and cockpit with French contracts and CGT membership or German contracts with Ver.di affiliation, Oh God!

Only the infamous Mr. Moritz Suter once came up with such a nonsense idea for his feldgling Crossair ( and it was not the only one ;)

Still I think resurrecting the Swissair name would be a good idea ( outside Europe we are still called SR ^)
