I am connecting from a HA to UA flight in LAS with a rather tight connection. My question is, do I have to clear security again going from Terminal 2 to Terminal 1 or are they connected?

They're not connected. Not all the gates in terminal 1 are even connected.

When is your flight? I recall reading somewhere that HA is moving to T1 next week or thereabouts.

Did a quick search and found this FT thread: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/hawaii-based-airlines/1340520-ha-las-terminal-change-6-21-12-a.html

Heads up Vegas fliers...HA is moving to Terminal 1 at LAS on 6/21/12 at 9:00AM. This is a temporary move until Terminal 3 opens and HA moves operations there later this Fall.

More info will be forthcoming. This was posted in a blurb on their latest marketing email.

In another aviation forum site, it was mentioned that HA would move to the D Gates (very nice) which is part of Terminal 1 and will be part of Terminal 3 linked by underground tram to both terminals. When Terminal 3 opens in the Fall, HA would move ticketing and baggage claim there.

I love the D Gates and can't wait.

If the move is to the D Gates, then you would be in the same airside area as UA. However, as Loren Pechtel noted, not even all the gates in Terminal 1 are connected. You should probably try to verify this with HA independently.

HA flights are indeed currently using the D concourse - gate D35. You could get a definitive answer just by calling HA - 800-367-5320.

I'm a LV resident and use the airport almost weekly, but I don't know the answer to this question and have just spent a fruitless hour trying to research online.

Since T-3 has opened, I have from time to time needed to go from T-1 to T-3 or vice versa, usually in conjunction with my other half's commute to Southern California. Because we live an hour from the airport and both travel a lot, we try to coordinate flight times to either ride to the airport together or to pass the car between us like a baton. Now that there are two parking garages, this is more difficult. If one leaves the car at T-1 and comes home at T-3.... This also applies to some people who may connect.

Yes, there is a shuttle between the two terminals landslide. But it is not necessarily convenient in terms of time and weather. Obviously, if checked luggage or immigration is involved then that limits choices, but sometimes with carry-on only it would be nice to connect between the two trams at Concourse D and go straight to/from the car. If one arrives in Concourse D, then one can simply depart via T-1 or T-3 depending on which tram one boards. How about if one is airside in T-1 and needs to board a flight at a T-3 E gate? I know it's possible to take the tram from T-1 to D and from there take the tram to T-3. I know that if one is leaving the airport via T-3, one simply goes out the doors, leaving airside, into baggage claim. But I sort of remember that to get to those doors, there are perhaps escalators going up...maybe to the E gates? I've never needed to do that before, but today it would be convenient.

Anybody know the answer to this?

Thanks.

I go through security at T1 every time, because T3 does not have precheck. Then I take the tram to the D gates and another tram to the E gates. The escalators are down only, but there are elevators to the right and left that take you up to the E gates. For some reason the elevator speaks with an Australian accent.
