Hello,

I am U.S. citizen and found a great J class fare one way on Eygpt Airlines from Bangkok to JFK. I am wondering if I need a VISA for a four hour connecting flight through Cairo and onto to JFK with a plane change. From what I can see online I do think I do, but I want to double check otherwise I will just fly Asiana or United in Y through ICN or NRT back to DEN. Thanks for the information.

According to a quick search on Yahoo, holders of a US passport can enter Egypt without a visa for 30 days.

I'm not sure how reliable that information is. I would call the Egyptian consulate in the US and check.

You should know that Egyptair is a dry airline.

If you need to enter the country, you can get it for $ 15 while arriving at the airport.

And it could be argued there was coup there today. Good luck.

Yes I and I am sure many others have flown through much worse but I think going through Cairo would up your risk factor a small bit, make sure to factor that in... and the no booze part :D
