Oceania (Australia, New Zealand & the South Pacific) - Getting duty free liquor through AKL

Hey All!
Quick question - I am flying through Auckland on my way to Australia and was planning on picking up 2 liters of duty free alcohol in Canada at the airport - I think its cheaper there. Will this be a problem at all when I get to Auckland? Will I have to go through security or anything at that airport? I know the answer is likely no, but I've heard some stories of people losing their booze - better be safe than sorry!
Thanks a lot for any help :)

Thanks a lot for any help :)At least some flights leaving AKL ban liquids on carryon, so you do risk that (US bound flights definitely do). But your premise that it is cheaper in Canada is wrong -- NZ is famous for being much cheaper for duty-free liquor than the rest of the world, and for the things I've bought (JW Blue, etc.) it has been 30-50% cheaper than in YVR or YYZ (or even LAX). You're much better off buying it at AKL imho.

You will go through transit security and liquids will be banned. Just buy it at AKL. As Number 6 points out, it's cheaper anyway.

Thanks!
Thats great news. I just had a quick look online at the duty free shops in YVR and AKL and it looked like the spirits were cheaper in YVR but those were probably just based on specials.
Cheers for the info!

A bit late to this thread, but if you sign up and buy online here (http://www.dutyfreestores.co.nz/Home), you usually get 20% discount on DF drink.
