I'm planning to visit london in July and will buy a Rolex watch for my wife. I would like to reclaim the VAT paid but I'm a British passport holder, currently living in Dubai (for the past 3 years). Will my British passport cause any problems with the VAT refund?

Thanks

Nationality is not the issue.

Never had an issue with this when claiming a VAT refund in UK or Ireland on the way back to the US - currently resident there. You may be asked for proof of UAE residency but that's it.

Indeed, passport is not the issue.

No problem at all.

Great, thank you all for your replies.

I'm sure my UAE residency visa should be sufficient proof then!

Yup, they'll want to see the residency visa but it's not a problem.
