I tried to book a room at Hilton Xi'An (China) but it seems not allowing me to book it for more than 2 people. If I just put myself as the guest, it showed all types of rooms and rates. But if I add my two kids, the only room available is the presidential suite. Is this normal? Is there any way to go around it. If I book the room for myself, will they allow the kids stay? I'm Hilton gold if it makes any difference. Thanks in advance for any advices.

Many hotels outside the US have more restrictive maximum occupancy policies than North America. In some cases it is just the way they have set up their site and they will be happy to allow children, but in others there are fire ordinances or other requirements which mean the occupancy limits are hard. The only way to find out is to call or email the hotel. Status doesn't usually make a difference.

Call the hotel directly (not the 800 number for reservations) and ask. As stifle said, in many areas outside the US more than two people per room is not always an easy thing, even if they are kids. The hotel will know their policy and local codes.

Your post suggests that it would be one parent and two kids, rather than two adults and two kids, but how old are the kids? A baby in a crib and a toddler would be very different from two huge teenagers.

And in this vein, are the OP's kids really children? Children are under 18. Is she actually trying to get 3 adults in the room?
There was a thread while back where a poster complained about a hotel not allowing her 2 kids to stay in the room free with her and her husband despite the kids stay free allowance. When more info came out, her "kids" were both in their 20's, certainly not children.

People, there is no need to use too much of imagination here
Thanks for stifle and cordelli. I called the hotel and one parens with two kids younger than 13 is totally fine for them. Problem solved.
