Hawaii - Oahu Activities questions

Hi: Going with 11 year old to Honolulu. Doing research I am considering two very different luaus: Hali Koa and Hilton HV. Can anyone give me info on the Hilton. I did read on Hale Koa. Just want her to have an opportunity to dance the hula and participate a little.
Also, because she is just under 12 they will not let her do the Dolphin Swim. She can do the dolphin encounter. Has anyone does this one and if so, how was it?
I don't want to do the luau at the PCC because I have been there prior and just want a decent dinner there after a whole day of sun and heat. We are opting for the prime rib dinner there.

Seeing 139 have read your posting with no replies, here is a response as poor as it might be. Not having attended the Hilton Village luau, my opinion is based only 3 visits to the Hale Koa luau and hearsay on the HHV one. If you are eligible or can wangle your way into the Hale Koa one, that is the best overall choice. It has been a couple of years, but I do recall children being called up to the stage. I don't remember exactly what they did, but they did have fun. Some reviews back up this:

"Prior to dinner, there is entertainment for adults and kids alike, dancing, music and..."
"The "pre-dinner" activities are focussed (their spelling) around children"

"Of course my children were uninterested."
In the old days, the Kodak show invited all the children up. If you check things out, maybe the International Market Place, Royal Hawaiian Center, Ala Moana Center or Kuhio Beach stage hula shows etc. invite kids up.

Thank you. After much reading on Tripadvisor I have decided against the HHV so leaning toward Hale Koa. I think I can get in to that one. Will try in advance anyway.

If all else fails, you could ask/beg a kindly gentleman or lady to buy the tickets for you. Also, if the show is a little slack, they often forget to ask for an ID.

I read on TA that someone who works there is happy to "sponsor" you. If that doesn't work, I have a nephew who was in the military for 30 years and still does the same job as a civilian. Hopefully he can arrange it. Thanks

Sure, make a person jealous!! :)
As far as the dolphin thing, tripadvisor had terrible reviews of sea life park dolphin swims. My daugher in law found much better dolphin encounters at the Kahala hotel and resort so doing it there, but thanks for all the feedback.
