Found this deal to get 4% cash back on all bookings at hotels.com (http://studentrate.com/studentrate/itp/get-itp-student-deals/Hotels-com-Student-Discounts--/0)
Right now they are having a 35% off sale on festival cities too (Austin, NYC, Nashville, SF I think) but the cash back can always be stacked with any ongoing promo/sale run by Hotels.com as long as you book via the deal site

Does studentrate require you to have an .edu address to register?

No they do not require to have a .edu email. Anyone can register. I think that some of their deals are not accessible to non students but most of them are.

those "Save up to 35% in your favorite Music Festival Cities" promos are not really promos. just the regular prices available on hotels.com oder expedia.com. cashback-wise you can do better. some sites give you up to 10 percent cashback on hotels.com bookings, like qipu.de

For cash back there might be better % around, that's true. but i think the sale prices are lower than regular prices. i got cash back from this site before on Forever 21 and Netflix, and I used paypal

Do you get the cash back right after you complete your stay at the hotel? Can you claim it right away?

It gets posted to your account almost right after you stay at the hotel. but it will become available for you to claim 60 days after

prices are 100 percent identical to those offered right now on hotels.com or expedia.com

I usually use hotels.com to book nice hotels when i don't buy a package including air travel. They have a good selection in the US, sometimes booking.com is better abroad though
4% is on par with just about every other cashback site. Big Crumbs is actually 4.5%. (PM me if you're new to Big Crumbs.) Here's a list: http://evreward.com/store/go/3440

I actually just checked this deal (http://studentrate.com/itp/get-itp-student-deals/Hotels-com-Student-Discounts--/0)out, they also seem to promote certain offers like "Save 10%" if you book by a certain date and travel during a certain time frame. If they keep on offering stuff like that I'll just book through them.

The reason why I wanted to share this deal was because on top of whatever promotion Hotels.com has going on, if you book through the student site, you get 4% cash back! Which is awesome in my book :D:D

I've noticed that hotels.com does rebates, would I get cash back and the rebate through this site?
