Hertz - Hertz Employee Discount (CDP)

I have a Hertz employee discount number but no relation to the employee and in fact, I have no idea who he/she is. I randomly heard about the number. When I go to the Hertz website, the employee discount does in fact work (seems to give me about a 40-50% discount). Unfortunately they do not have an option to pay through their site which means I will have to pay at the desk. If I provide the number at the desk, will they give me problems and ask how I got that discount/who the employee is and therefore I will not get the discount? Or will I have a checkout with no problem?

Welcome to FT!
In essence, what you are proposing is to commit fraud.
You are not a Hertz employee nor are related to one.
Therefore, you're not entitled to use the discount code.
You might get away with using the code at a location ... but if you have an accident, you will be liable for all the damages and possibly more.

The ethical and/or moral dilemma aside, while I have no experience attempting to use the Employee CDP, it has been stated on here and many other forums many times that Hertz has procedures in place to prevent the abuse of this CDP much more so than any other, including requiring the Employee Name/ID number of the employee who authorized your use of the CDP to book the reservation. It's entirely possible that you may get an overwhelmed or lazy agent who overlooks this and will let you slip by, but it's also entirely possible that Hertz could later audit your account and ban you from renting from them for life.

Welcome to Flyertalk
There is a chance they will catch it, and if they do the rate may go up considerably. There's also the issue of should anything happen while you are using the discount to the car, then your fraud will most certainly be discovered.
There is also a chance all will just sail through and nobody will care.
I personally don't think it's worth any of the risk to defraud them, but I'm sure others have gotten away with it.

If you're that hard up for cash that you need to defraud Hertz on a rental rate, chances are you can't afford to replace a $20,000+ automobile and pay $100,000+ in injuries if you're involved in an accident. My suggestion: don't be silly.

I have an ATM card that isnt in my name, and I found it on the street. DO you think I can use it? Will anyone care?
Really no difference in scenarios. Stealing or fraud either way.
