I know it would have been cheaper the other way around, but I already have GE and want to apply for Nexus.
Any idea how long from application to approval?

I don't think your GE give you a leg up because Nexus requires US AND Canadian approval. I don't think your GE give you a leg up because Nexus requires US AND Canadian approval. I don't know if GOES generates another initial vet by CBP before conditional approval, but the US is usually faster than Canada at vetting anyway, so no holdup there, but no leg up. Where you do have a small leg up is at the interview-- you only need to be interviewed by the CBSA. CBP does not need to re-interwiew you, so you shave about 15 minutes off the interview process. But it is not going to speed up conditional approval. I applied for Nexus for both myself (already in GE) and my mom (no trusted traveler program) on the same date in March. It took every minute of the 8 weeks for us to be pre-approved..and we were both approved on the same day. So being a GE member apparently does not speed up the process at all.
