I am flying Lufthansa Business Class from Barcelona to Frankfort and from there to Buenos Aires. Upon arrival to Buenos Aires, I am flying with TAM in First Class from Buenos Aires to Sao Paulo (GRU) and connecting on the same day to Montevideo (MVD) in TAM Economy.
I am a UA Silver member with Star Alliance.
Do I have access to any lounge in GRU while waiting for my connecting flight to MVD?
Unfortunately, the business class cabin is full on this last MVD flight; only Economy is available.
Not sure if I will be allowed to use the lounge under this circumstances. Please advice.
:) Thank you.
Dear pablitus68, It's a award ticket? The segment BUE-SAO-MVD is very strange.
Before the answer my suggestion is go to BUE and don't take the SAO-MVD flight. Purchase a Pluna (very cheap) air ticket or a boat ticket (by Buquebus). Both way is more faster than go to SAO e take the MVD flight.
After, the for your question is NO. If you flight economy and don't have a *A gold status, you'll not allowed to enter in the business lounge, even if you flown first and business before.
I don't about United Red Carper, but you can try use this lounge. It's very close to TAM lounge.

MVD is a very short hop from EZE - or AEP, though sadly not on Star carriers: so I imagine this is a redemption.
Not sure how your FFP handles taxes and other charges on redemptions, but you could be paying a fortune for the strange final sectors, as well as the very significant time penalty. Have you considered simply buying the BUE MVD direct connection? This would avoid the need to address the GRU lounge predicament
TAM won't care about your class of travel on the arriving flight: you won't get into their lounge at GRU with a Y boarding-card. But if you can flash a *G card you'll have a choice of TAM and UA lounges.

We walked by the TAM lounge on the way to the United lounge, and I thought it was a Gold lounge (not sure of the requirements to enter). You could phone TAM in advance (they have an 800 number in the U.S. and offices in Miami). I agree with others you probably won't get in, but you could ask. You could also ask United in advance about access to their lounge.
