is there an AirNZ (or partner lounge) you can use in London or Hong Kong?

Thanks

No AirNZ lounge in either, but you can use standard Star Alliance lounges in both. LHR has Star Lounge and HKG has Thai, United, and Singapore lounges. United Lounge is quite nice, although because it is "open" you still get some of the noise from the concourses below.

It is worth noting that at LHR Terminal 1 (I presume this about flying on Air NZ, as Star Alliance carriers also fly from Terminals 3 and 4), given you appear to be NZ Gold Elite, you should be granted access to the First Class section of the Star Alliance lounge, which is quieter with slightly better beverages/catering.

Be sure to look for the Air NZ staff on the front desk to get this benefit.

At HKG, most NZ passengers who use a lounge choose the Thai or United ones, as the Singapore one is far from the departure gates and is "inside" (no windows) and has no substantive advantages over the other two.

There are plenty of threads discussing Star Alliance lounges at HKG, some prefer United (it has more and better showers than the Thai lounge), some prefer Thai (tends to have better food).

The SQ lounge in HKG is good if you like the ice-cream selection :)

Positives for the SQ lounge:
Relatively quiet
WiFi works okay
Reasonable food/drink selection

Negatives for the SQ lounge:
Far away from the NZ gate(s)
No showers (and I want to say no bathrooms) in the lounge

I'd always wondered why the staff at the LHR lounge counter always ask whether I'm "Gold Elite, or just standard Gold" when I check-in. Makes sense now. My first trip to the lounge as GE will be in a few weeks. Looking forward to checking out the "slightly better" catering. :)

The substantive advantage is that, at times I fly, it is quieter. This applies to SQ lounges at a number of airports, most noticeably at SYD (compared to that crowded hell-hole that NZ attempt to foist upon us in SYD and then claim that the lounge is unprofitable).

maybe it is just me, but everytime I like to get into SQ lounge @ SYD, the person at front desk always point me to AirNZ with my AirNZ BP, does not seem to work when I show them my Star Alliance Gold Lounge card though....

never tried SQ @ HKG as some poster says, it is far away from NZ gates... usually 33/35 or 41

It may help that I fly SQ C enough.

Of course they also close the lounge at various times throughout the day.

Does anyone know what CANC lounge is in HKG? I'm only a silver and a Koru now, is this the only lounge I could use in HKG? Thanks!

Haven't been in it, but did find a thread with a little info a while ago: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/other-asian-australian-south-pacific-frequent-flyer-programs/1241291-cnac-vip-lounge-hkg.html

As far as I know, it is the only lounge for Koru access in HKG.
