When copying and pasting (with a minor modification, I guess), it's customary to include a link to the original source: http://airlineroute.net/2012/06/12/af-yul-w12/

I had that information on AFKLMbiz in french and I mixed the two as my english is bad...:)
Airlineroute just mention new GDS but do not mention the end of first class. Thank you for do not crucify ;) and tell us what you think about that bad news.

tell us what you think about that bad news.Well, I could understand a ":(" type emoticon because, presumably, it affects you negatively but I struggle to understand what could justify a ":td:". It is not as if YUL is an especially high-volume and/or prestigious, flagship destination.

Why do we care about how the OP is feeling emotionally? He presented some airline news which is relevant here. That to me is the important part. His emotions aren't that relevant for discussion here.

His emotions aren't that relevant for discussion here. The OP prefaced his post with an emoticon, the meaning of which implies that the decision was a bad decision as opposed to merely a decision that (s)he dislikes and asked for our views on the matter. I did just that.

If you strongly believe that FT should be limited to communication of raw facts, turning FT into a kind of Reuters of frequent flying, feel free to lobby Talkboard to recommend a change of the FT ToS as well as, in the first place, removal of the possibility from adding emoticons to posts. ;)

My :td: is about end of first class on AFWell, it still looks to me as more of a :( than a :td:. Is there something I am missing here? Is there a particularly sizable market for F in Montreal per se more than elsewhere, or are you just personally disappointed by this?

very disappointed. First for A380 that is a great plane and second for the feeling that Air France abandons First Class. Now it is Montreal, before it was Santiago de Chile, Papeete...

I thought that 77W meant F class.
Frankly, NickB, why are you criticizing someone's emotions?

Yes, you did add the mention of the elimination of F, which can be an interesting discussion point for the board. (And I'm surprised that jimyvr didn't mention it on the AirlineRoute post, as he usually does mention such things.) However, the text matches the post I linked verbatim except for using "no flight on day3" instead of using the shorthand notation and then mentioning the elimination of F.

Certainly no attempt to crucify involved, just hoping that everyone engages in good practice and includes a link when doing a copy/paste job. (Ideally, it'd be best to put the copied text inside a QUOTE environment, especially when adding additional commentary.)

As far as the elimination of F, my miles are pretty much all with DL and I doubt that I'll ever have enough money to pay for international F. Thus, this doesn't really impact me. It seems possible that the capacity reduction will be a seasonal thing if AF could really justify using the A380 on the route. However, it doesn't seem beyond the realm of possibility that YUL had the A380 simply because AF didn't have enough airframes to use it on longer routes that can't be operated by a single A380. With more entering the fleet, they can do more of the longer routes on the A380.

Please, let's try to focus on issues, opinions and facts, and skip negative comments of a personal nature. Thanks.

Indeed, the 77W to be used seems without F. I wonder how many 77W will retain their 8 F seats. Would be useful is AF was using different codes for different 77W configs (maybe they do?)

AF did the same thing in late 2011. This is just a repeat. F class and A380 are due to return on 31 March, 2013.

In the meantime, LX and LH both maintain F class out of YUL for the balance of 2012, with a lot of interesting offers for those you who can justify the higher J fares

Frankly, NickB, why are you criticizing someone's emotions?I am not criticizing anybody's emotions and I do not see where your read this in what I wrote. I am just trying to understand: is there anything special about Montreal that would make a decision to remove F from that route a bad decision worthy of criticism or is it just a case of disappointment? The use of :td: by the OP suggested the former and, if so, I wondered why as I personally struggle to find what it is. OTOH, If it is just disappointment, then of course I fully understand. I would not dream of criticising the OP for being disappointed. This would be utterly bizarre.

Well when I flew this route last month on the 380, there was mass confusion over seat assignments. I was turfed inexplicably from my exit row at check in at another station. Despite the fact I'd had the seat reserved for nine months and it showed on my printed res. Tough cookie for me. At YUL, no others available and the result was effectively an operational downgrade into one of the worst Y- seats on the aircraft. I wasn't the only one affected. The YUL GAs and counter personnel told me that seats had been sold that didn't even exist on the 380. I wrote it in to DL, whose ticket it was, and received some of those bountiful SM.

Perhaps this change means at least they will get the selling of seats on the 77W aligned with actual seat inventory and then you can all be happy with your awful 44B assignment that sticks :) The AF773 in Y is deservedly a notorious machine.

If it was a DL ticket, which site did you use to select seats? If it was DL.dumb, then AF never saw your seat selection. The only reliable online way to get seats selected on AF flights is to use af.us or KLM.com.
