Emirates Skywards - Sri Lankan Airlines to Emirates - separate tickets

I have a separate ticket purchased on Sri Lankan (in Economy) airlines to connect to an Emirates ticket (in F).

To avoid purchasing a visa I would rather transit (and stay airside) as a connection and thus need my luggage interlined - do you think this would be possible?

I'm assuming you have a British passport... in which case you wouldn't need a Visa anyway.

I'm not sure if Sri Lankan interline with EK... hopefully someone will be along soon to answer!

Yes, UL and EK have an Interline Carrier Agreement.

I do have a British passport however.......

'From 1 January 2012, British nationals require a visa for trips to Sri Lanka. The Government of Sri Lanka launched an online visa scheme, the Electronic Travel Authority (ETA), to replace the existing procedure of granting visas on arrival. The ETA was introduced from 1 October on a trial basis and became mandatory from 1 January 2012. See Entry Requirements - Visas.'

You must hold a valid passport to enter Sri Lanka. Your passport must be valid for a minimum period of six months from the date of entry to Sri Lanka.

You are transiting in CMB and not in DXB? I think this is the confusion

Yes, UL and EK have an Interline Carrier Agreement.

Even though UL has the capability to check luggage through to EK does not mean that they will do so on separate tickets.

The safest approach , I would say, is to assume that they will not do so and work on that premise and if they do check it thought then that is a bonus

Given that the ETA for a Transit visa with Single Entry for 2 days is free ( from http://www.eta.gov.lk/slvisa/visainfo/fees.jsp?locale=en_US) , I would suggest just getting one to be on the safe side
