I am flying FCO-SIN on SQ J and will have a 6-hour connection to the budget terminal. Is there any arrivals lounge I can use?

Dear echino,

Nope. Airline lounges in SIN are only accessible with a departure boarding pass only.

6 hours of layover- why not head into the city for some quick fun?

I am arriving in SIN from HKG in business and then on to HKT in business on Silk Air.

Have a 3 hour layover. Will I have access to a lounge and do you have to clear any immigration on the layover?

Dear apodo77,

Yep, you will have lounge access in SIN.

And no, no clearing of immigration is needed as this is considered a transit stop.

Are you arriving in SIN on a SQ flight? If yes, you probably will have all your baggage checked through to HKT during check in in HKG.

Hope it helps,

You'll have plenty of time to try most of the SKL's out, although just wandering the airport for the butterfly gardens is also a great experience. Enjoy.

I have another lounge access question. I am flying in J EWR-SIN and then have a 7 hour layover before economy flight to Kuching (there was no availability in C/F for this short hop although it was all booked on one ticket). Will I have lounge access for the layover? I would love to grab a shower and relax.

No, but your *G membership will let you use the lounge. (But the SQ Star Gold lounges at SIN, do not have showers, only the SilverKris lounges)

You may be able to access the SilverKris lounge.

Explain to them that you have just gotten off the EWR-SIN flight in J and if you can use the lounge. The worst they can say is 'no'.

SQ is quite padentic when it comes to these things. No means no, is their line.
Last week they wouldn't let me bring in a friend (at the KF lounge) and her 6 year old daughter saying that *G rules mean 1 guest only and they will only accomodate an extra person if that person is an infant.

Hi! I have a SQ 3 hour layover in SIN arriving from FRA, which lounge would be possible for me to use, Star Alliance Gold on Y ticket with a friend.

Can I use other star alliance partner lounges?

Thank you everyone for the advice. I was not able to get into the Silver Kris lounge although I had just flown in J from EWR-SIN. The problem was that I was in transit on a codeshare flight on Malaysia Air. Although ticketed by SQ, they would not allow it. But they were very kind and let me in to the Gold Lounge. I must have looked pathetic and they took pity on me.

Oh - well that was nice of SQ, especially as you were flying MH!

My advice would have been:

You can always try - go to the SKL in T3 and ask to check-in. They will say (assuming SQ22 landed on time) that the lounge check-in desk opens at 7am. They will want to see your eticket and if it looks like J or they accept your explanation, they might let you in. The lounge is quite empty at that hour.

A safer alternative is to book the transit hotel (for min 6 hours).

The rule is that lounge access is governed by the class of the flight departing from Changi. Arriving flight is supposed to have no bearing.

If you are connecting to a *A flight and have Star Gold, then you have the Star Gold lounge. Or if you have PPS, then you get SKL as long as you are travelling connecting on SQ or MI, or the Star Gold lounge if connecting to other *A carrier.

You could have flown into Changi in SQ F, there are not supposed to be any "arrival lounge" privileges and you are not suppposed to be granted lounge access at SKL or the Star Gold lounge, unless you have priveleges due to the onward flight. From what I've seen, heard and experienced myself, these rules are followed quite strictly by SQ.

It's worth noting there are a number of pay lounges in Changi. Ambassador lounge for example. On a recent layover in Changi, I paid for a shower at the Ambassador lounge in T2, I believe it was S$8. Given my situation with a very long journey ahead to the US via Japan, and because I was traveling ANA and had no access to SKL but only Star Gold lounge (and the Star Gold lounge has no shower) I was willing to pay. And actually, the showers there are better than SKL. High pressure. Hot. Really great.
