When do referral points hit ones account. I have referred some family members for the fee waived UK Gold card who have been accepted and have received the cards. Do I receive the points when they reach the required spend.

No - in the UK referrals program, the referrer should get the points once the person has been approved. For the few referals I have done, I have had the points credited BEFORE the person has even had their cards.

I believe it is typically within 2-3 days of their application being approved...

That said, its possible their could be sensitivities built into the process related to non-business days (weekends, bank holidays) I really don't know.

However if they have their cards now, I would speak to them to make sure they definately applied using the referal link provided. You would be surprised how many people get the link and then (bizarrely) apply direct through the normal Amex website link. Believe me, it happens...

If they definately have applied through the link - then they need to phone up to ask someone to check their application was correctly processed with a referals indicator/source code.

Experiences may vary - but as the first step of the investigation will be likely be focussed around checking the application of the person you referred, I think it is this person that will have to phone up initially as Amex may refuse to discuss or even acccess someone elses application information with you (even if you did refer them - and even if they are a family member).

If Amex agree that this was a valid referral then they should agree to correct the issue - and the person you referred may be able to provide your account details to Amex so they can manually apply the bonus points to you.

They obviously DO have to wait till they have met the spend requirements to get their bonus points. But you definately DON'T have to wait for that, to get yours!
