Midwest - Cheap Parking Lot in Downtown Detroit?

I'm trying to find another overnight lot instead of where I'll be staying--Hilton Garden Inn. $20 per night seems a bit much. Is there another alternative? I've heard that Greektown Casino has an $8 per night daily rate. Is that true? Can I validate and do free nights?

There are all kinds of parking ramps in downtown Detroit, but you need to be a bit careful because not all of them are open 24 hours. I usually use Trolley Plaza which is near a people mover stop.

One thing to watch for is rates may go up if there's a Tiger, Lions or Red Wing game or similar event.

and enjoy Sweet Loraine's -- its a small local chain and one of the best in the Detroit area.

You can park in the MGM casino lot for free & then walk 1½ blocks down Michigan Ave. to the People Mover station & pay 50¢ & take it back to the Hilton (Greektown station).
