Any suggestions?

Would love to find a high-end all-inclusive. Does one exist?

What about Blue Diamond Resort ( think thats the name). It is the former MO and not sure about service but its hardware is very nice. It will be on sale on Jetsetter.com later this week so could be very inexpensive.

Not sure if this would be your cup of tea but my wife got engaged and married at Secrets Maroma Beach.

Here is a video I did of the Honeymoon Ocean Front Suite.

I would agree with DavidO's suggestion of Grand Velas.

Another option would be the Appetite for Luxury package at the Fairmont Mayakoba.

Just curious DavidO; what are the Virtuoso benefits at an all-inclusive resort?

We stayed at Rosewood Mayakoba few months ago. Liked the Fairmont property (walked through) but felt too big (big convention going on while we were in area) so not as luxe feel. RC Cancun had all inclusive when we were there a couple years ago, but we didn't partake so not sure if good bargain. Beach was still challenged and beach club setup next to property was very open and kind of weird. Beachfront suite at Mayakoba just down from beach club pool/restaurant was great, not all inclusive, but really great service and quality of food was awesome. Never wanted for anything, butler brought drinks and food down to plunge pool on our balcony just like poolside.

I'm also quite interested in this topic as I'm currently shopping for a luxury all inclusive for August at the moment.

I had never heard of Gran Velas but it does look nice; my preoccupations are access to chairs by the pool and beach as well as kids.... The last 2 years we went to Adult only all inclusive near Cancun and ended up staying in the club section which gave us access to a club-only pool and beach section where we did not have to show up at 7am to reserve a pair chairs under so shade. Can I expect something like that at Gran Velas? Also, are there adult only pool?

The other one I have found which seems quite nice, and relatively cheap it seems, is Zoetry's Riviera Maya property. Has anyone been there? How is it?

Thanks!

Max

I've stayed at Grand Velas twice, both times for long Labor Day weekends. There was never any problem obtaining poolside lounges. There is a special club for children, and the staff conduct pool games for them. I noticed they used a different pool for children's activities, and I think it's not as deep as the main ocean front pool.

The staff at the pool will move umbrellas for you, and provide towels for the lounge chairs. There is never a problem finding space at any hour. The main pool has a swim up bar, and food can be ordered and served poolside. My friend is in a wheelchair, and they were very helpful in assisting her.

I arrived with a badly stopped up ear, which worsened during my stay. The hotel summoned a doctor, who solved my problem. He came equipped with a rolling hospital cart, and the cost for treatment was very reasonable.

Their spa is wonderful! If you want a relaxing time, you will find it here.

Yes, I went there for a wedding. Plus points are that there are not many rooms and not many children, so it's relatively relaxed and uncrowded. I just didn't find it that luxurious though, the rooms were very chintzy and the food not great. The beach is not particularly attractive either. IMO all inclusive is a false economy. Much better to pick where you actually want to stay and set a budget for the food and drink. If I were to go back I'd pick Maroma resort. The beach there was stunning and the food very good when we visited.

DavidO - Is the Ritz Cancun Virtuoso?

All:

Thinking about it for a week next April. Is 7 or 8 nights at the Ritz too long? Two teens along with my wife and I... Would book the one bedroom oceanfront suite (and use one of my club level upgrades).

I just received the Fairmont Visa card, so we could split our stay and use some free nights / benefits at Fairmont Mayakoba.

Any thought on 5/3 or 4/4 nights split between the two resorts?

We're going to get out and tour around, so not all our time will be on the beach / at the resort.

Thanks for any insights.

Lark

Not to Hijack this thread, but basically we are looking for a pool villa/room type of setup so that is why both of these options were appealing.

I've found the Zoetry for 600USD/night all-in which seems like a good deal so I am wondering what is wrong with that picture...

Any other place I have overlooked which would be in that price neighborhood in the Caribbean? The Mayakoba complex seems nice but I'm a bit doubtfull I would be able to fit in the room, meals and alcool for that price...

To answer your question, yes. Try LIVE AQUA in Cancun. We - husband, me, two adult kids- have stayed there twice in an Aqua Suite. It's an adult all- inclusive on a gorgeous and very private stretch of beach about 15 minutes from Cancun Airport.

There are seven pools, a spa, a very good health club, five restaurants incl. a branch of MB, and beautiful oceanfront rooms/suites. It's across the street from an upscale mall, and only a short bus ride away from downtown Cancun.

The service is some of the best we've ever experienced in all of our travels. People really go out of their way to accommodate you and make sure you're happy. As mentioned, we've stayed in an Aqua Suite ( kids in a connecting oceanfront double) which is a huge two-room suite (whirlpool tub in the bathroom) with an enormous terrace/deck overlooking the beach.

If you stay in an "Aqua Room" you have access to the Aqua Club, where you can have premium liquors and appetizers/snacks all day long.

Anyway, we got a very good deal on it the last two years in a row by booking through Hotels.com, but now that it's beat out the Ritz Carlton on tripadvisor rankings, I think those days are gone.

Downside? Food is very good for an all-inclusive, but not enough variety. And there's not much to do at the hotel after dark, although their management is trying to remedy that.

When you stay in an Aqua Club room, you get a free cabana for two on the beach or at the pool ( you just reserve your place once you get there) plus a daily 20 minute foot massages. Heaven!
