Another "sky is falling" episode at DCA. Passengers removed from flight for acting "suspiciously", but allowed to fly later.

Another bigoted federal LEO, for no good reason, making a stink over some foreigners? No surprise, as this kind of outcome is a product of the DHS paranoid, bigoted mentality having established deep roots and spread its tentacles across government circles in and around the DC/VA/MD area and with a bunch of non-federal LEOs too.

The America of of our birth is no longer alive, for instead we now have an America that has surrendered to the ways of the nation's previously defeated enemies from the Second World War and Cold War.

Another bigoted federal LEO, for no good reason, making a stink over some foreigners?FBI officials explained to 7 Action News that the flight had been sitting on the tarmac at Washington, D.C.'s Reagan National Airport for some time prior to it's expected take off. While waiting, the FBI says a man asked to use the plane's restroom. Confusion followed due to a possible language barrier.

The man that went to use the restroom was traveling with three others. All were removed and questioned by security teams. They were cleared and then booked onto another flight.Note that only 1 man went to the washroom not all four.

Where'd you get the "federal LEO" from? .

THe first sentence in the article notes the activities were spotted by a Federal Law Enforcement official.

What is with Delta? years ago, flying out of Costa Rica we were a half an hour late getting off the ground, a man got up to use the lav and the FA screamed at him to sit down. His reply was that " we should have been in the air a half hour ago, I have to go , do you want it in the aisle or in the lav?"

Note that only 1 man went to the washroom not all four.

Doesn't make a difference when a passenger appears to be part of a larger party which shares one or more demographic characteristics of a sort that freak out a xenophobic federal LEO groomed to be just that.

This kind of outcome is yet another product of the paranoid DHS's bigoted mentality having established deep roots and spread its tentacles across government circles in and around the DC/VA/MD area and with a bunch of non-federal LEOs too.

...there was a language barrier and a decision was made to return to the gate.A FWB language? ;)

A FWB language? ;)

I would assume so.

There's got to be more to this story than what's in this article. Okay, let me rephrase: "There's got to be more to this story, because I'm afraid of what it says about how crazy we've gotten if there isn't."

I especially like the FWFB while FWB.

Now for sake of argument (n.b. for sake of argument).....

Let's say the 4 suspicious pax in question were in fact up to no good-I say good on the LEO's on board (not that this is the case of course ;) [imho])

Let's say the 4 suspicious pax in question were in fact just everyday folks who were simply singled out for FWB-think there will be any apology issued (yeah, I know-this is a trick question ;))

Thanks for pointing them out. There is already discussed the existing thread. This guys that did not followed the flight crew instructions. They have to stay in the seated and he cannot go to restroom while the plane is takeoff. They have to obey the rules. When the plane is takeoff. When the captain will tell you "Fasten Seatbelt" sign is off. Then he can go to restroom while on 30,000 feet.

Yup, I'll even write the "apology" that will be forthcoming:

"On June 8, four passengers were removed from an airplane due to their suspicious behavior. The safety of all of our passengers is of paramount importance and, out of an abundance of caution, officials removed these passengers. We apologize if anyone was inconvenienced by these actions."

Of all the phases of flight, pre-take-off is the second least likely for a real bad guy to start their cockpit assault, because the pilots can disable its ability to take off in less than ten seconds. Post-landing is the least likely, because what can the bad guys do with a taxiing aircraft? I suppose hit a fuel truck or the terminal, or go off-airport on the ground.

Of course, BOTH of these phases of flight were involved in recent news reports.

Is NOBODY doing any risk analysis?
