Hertz - Can't use points for more than one week at a time?

Having rented 9/10 weeks for the last year I accumulated over 14K points and maintain PC. Tried to book Prestige on points for 12 days realizing I may have to pay for a couple of hundred points. It seems like it is impossible. They won't book ANY award for more than seven days! So they wanted me to return to SAN at the 7 day point and get a new contract. Well I won't be near there. They won't book Prestige one way so I couldn't shift to another contract in PSP! Went through two agents and a supervisor. Ended up with two Premium rentals with "one-way" hits both ways. Seems absurd! Any others with this issue and did you come out better?

Sounds about right. The points program has set values and options, they are not always the most flexible.
You can set the res. up for 12 days and use points for 7 of the days and pay the other 5 if you want to. Still money out of your pocket though, Don't know if that helps or not.

Thanks, they'd offered that for over $500. Not what I was shooting for.

Try a local edition nearby. They might be willing to do this for you. They are guaranteed income from cert usage and prestige collection means a lot a revenue to a small location.

Are you saying they won't book Prestige one-way, or they won't book Prestige one-way on points?
Seem to remember that you can rent Prestige one-way, at no extra charge, as long as the pickup and dropoff stations are Prestige locations (guess they don't want Prestige cars at non-Prestige locations).
I once wanted a car for 10 days on points and ran into the 7 day max. I knew where I was going to be at the 7 day window so I booked two concurrent award reservations with the mid-trip dropoff and pickup at the same location. Also ensured I selected the exact same car.
During the initial rental period, I called the mid-trip location and asked if they needed me to physically come to the location. The agent kindly allowed me to call the day the first rental agreement ended. They closed out the first rental and opened the second one on the phone.
Can't promise all locations will be that helpful but it worked fine for me. I figured the worst case scenario is I drive to the mid rental location and physically swap cars.
