Canada - Solo Trip to Montreal

I'm looking into a solo Montreal weekend trip at the end of June. I know I want to explore Mount Royal and go to the Jazz Festival downtown. Can anyone recommend hotels to look into ($160/night range, doesn't have to be fancy, but clean and safe accomodations). Also, what about restaurants that are good for solo eating (i.e. somewhere I won't look out of place if I'm dining alone).
Will be a trip of firsts for me - first time to Canada and first solo adventure. Looking forward to it!

Welcome to Flyertalk. If you do a search for Montréal in this forum, you'll find many, many threads talking about hotels, eats and attractions in Montréal. If these don't answer your specific questions, just post a reply to one of these topics.

+1 re the many threads around here re Montreal places to go/things to do.
As for dining alone, take it from me and the hundreds of solo business travelers on this site, if you're uncomfortable just sitting at your dining table alone, make sure you bring a book or newspaper or your smartphone and you can easily avoid that uncomfortable eye contact with other diners. There is no shame in dining alone anywhere and simply telling the greeter "one for lunch/dinner"...do NOT deprive yourself of the MANY wonderful food opp'ys that Montreal has to offer.

Ate by myself during the days I spent on the road, and now still go out to eat all by myself. Every once in a while I have to wait an extra five minutes when they (rightfully) don't want to give me a big table during a busy time, but normally they are happy to have your business.

P.S., Montreal is wonderful, and has a current thread running along with older ones
