CommunityBuzz! - Looking for dining companion 11 June 2012 Hyatt North at IAH

This site is great, but it is RIDICULOUSLY hard to figure out where/how to post just to find someone to dine with at an airport hotel (IAH) tomorrow night. I am going to be at the Hyatt North and just want to not be completely bored out of mind.

I'm sure I've posted this in the incorrect place, there are so many frickin categories... Apologies.

Go to the bar and strike up a conversation, even if you don't drink.
Not everyone at the bar is looking for a night....

CommunityBuzz is actually the right forum to post your request. 2 days notice is a bit tight, but sometimes people are available, so it's always good to post. Having a specific hotel could also make it a bit more restrictive.

Sometimes I'll post (as an example) - will be in ORD area xx date for (lunch or dinner) - anyone around? I then give the date, approximate times I'm available, mention I'm willing to meet elsewhere (not necessarily just at my hotel) but that I won't have a car so would need a ride and/or public transport to meet. That opens it up a bit.

Hope someone is around to meet up w/ you. If not, take a book or Kindle to the bar, watch one of the playoff games & strike up a conversation with others or, at minimum, the bartender.

PS: If I didn't have a locals spot to go, I always thought the Pappasitos chain served decent Tex-Mex and there is one near IAH www.pappasitos.com/location/?id=57

.....if you are at the Hyatt Place near IAH.....the Jimmy G's seafood restaurant in front of the hotel attracts both locals and stuck-at-hotel folks.....
